I loved watching Ted get in touch with his feelings and share with his mother the ways in which she “dented” him.

I have zero issues with the language in the show and swear a lot myself but I did flinch when he said the F word to his mother multiple times. But, evolution is hard and sometimes things come out sideways.

I’m going to miss these characters SO much!

Love where the football is going and the development of Jamie, but everything else feels unfinished.

They introduced his mom to show how much Ted has grown - he was finally able to confront his mom about why they had never talked about his dad's suicide, or worked through it together. The whole reason he is/was so relentlessly optimistic is because that's how she raised him - never showing sadness or asking for help. That's also why Michelle left him - because he could never just be real. He realized all of this in therapy. Loved her character, btw. Such a great episode.

She was also a mom in Freaks and Geeks, and Girls! And it's wild to think of Ted Lasso, Hannah Horvath, and Lindsay Weir being siblings.

I loved her character this week. Loved seeing her and Ted together - putting him in context, seeing his growth, telling him what he needed to hear about his kid (and himself). It was great.

And oh man seeing Jamie and his mom - that was wild. The posters on his wall, too!

I think she struggled with this role, tho. Like she was supposed to have southern accent/southern charm but new yorker vibes kept spilling out.

Rest of the episode was great.

Why are my feelings and opinions ridiculous? I'm very grateful and proud that anyone on DCUM is thinking of me while the characters on this show are swearing, it brings a tear to my eye.

It's not ridiculous. There are a few - many? I don't know - regulars on this forum who act like junior high a-turds. It's really weird - and honestly, sometimes I find myself surprisingly upset by it, when they come after me. They contribute nothing, their thoughts are uninteresting, and this would be a better place without them.

Here are my predictions.

Ted goes home to be with his son, leaving Beard, Nate, and Roy to run the team. It’s up to the viewer to decide whether he reunites with his wife based on all that he’s learned about vulnerability.

Becks and the assistant want Rebecca’s advice about how they can use Rupert’s Very Bad Behavior to win control of West Ham in the divorce, creating another woman-owned team and leaving Rupert bested once again. (I’ll be VERY annoyed if Rebecca adopts Rupert’s illegitimate child. Yuck. Also, I don't think Nate had anything to do with whatever scandal happened. I think when he told Rupert he had to leave a few eps ago, he was quitting, not just talking about leaving the restaurant.)

At the very end of the game, we see the Dutch man and his daughter cheering on the team from the stands.

I think they lose the game so there’s something for Nate, Coach Beard, and Roy to work toward.

I assume Roy and Keely get back together—but at this point I don’t even care. Keely is just a shell of her former self and seems to need to work on that. But this is one part romantic comedy, after all, so I think they’ll probably get their happy ending.

No, what is being called ridiculous is your insistence in weighing in on every use of a swear word on a show that is not marketed to kids, doesn't air on broadcast TV, and has a lot of swearing in it. I get different people have different feelings about swearing, but no one else is like "let me go through all incidences of the f-word on Ted Lasso and tell you whether I thought they were appropriate and why."

Okay, minor point of annoyance in a great episode - why wasn't Jamie's mother at the game?? It was obviously in their town. Why did she have to watch it on TV? He would/could/should have gotten them tickets!

I wondered that, too - also why she was still living in the home he grew up in, when he loves her and could buy her a nicer place now. Unless she likes living there, which is possible.

This all sounds really plausible to me. Wonder if the writers are thinking the same things. We'll know next week!

The swearing - like it or not - is a big part of this show. It’s beyond prissy to claim offense every time the f-bomb drops, even in front of kids. Don’t watch the show if you don’t “approve.”
