I hope they still come out to the balcony for Trooping the Colour. Nice link to the past.

I guess Charles's generation doesn't have as many cousins, right? Just Sarah Chatto and her brother?

The Queen only had one sister.

We’ll the queen only had one sister, Margaret, and several of Phillips siblings died during the war.

At least two of Philip’s sisters were Nazi sympathizers making Charles’ paternal family a bit more complicated.

More than sympathizers. 3 of the 4 married Nazi party members. One of them even names their son after Hitler.

Or at the very least, better interests and hobbies if you can afford to not work during the day.

And you?

I have a job. Worked a 10 hour day, and am home spending 15 minutes on 'my websites' before I tend to my home.

Ew, I’m sorry you work 10 hours a day. That sounds awful. I enjoy about a 6 hour workday with full-time salary and benefits.

DP here. I live off of my husband’s generosity and goodwill. I know you all pity me, but I’m pretty happy.

My heart was in my mouth each time they lifted it on / off the carriage.

I was wondering it the stuff on top was stuck on with velcro.

I agree. I think the crown should have been buried with her. Charles can get a new one.

The lack of even a scintilla of knowledge of history on this thread is mind boggling! If you had read a newspaper or read news on the Internet since her death on Sept. 8, every single aspect of her funeral has been covered and infinitum!

The crown does not belong to her. It is Crown property. The Crown Jewels are not the personal property of the monarch.

It explains so much about all the posters thinking Harry should do/say/wear whatever he wants.

Do you want a medal or something? Here. Here is your prize.

Making $100,000 is nice but nothing to brag about.

If you don’t have anything remotely intelligent to say, best to shut your pie hole.

I thought they should have just given Charles the crown and get the coronation over with.

It is strange they delay it so long. Elizabeth waited - what - 15 months?

Lol Velcro. They were screwed on. But the pallbearers were truly amazing, they had to make their way up all those steps at St.George’s Chapel.

None will be as grand as this. Simply the age of the three and by the time George is King, the traditions will likely be no more.

There’s no guarantee the traditions will be gone.

DP. I don’t even think there’s a guarantee that there will be a monarchy by the time it’s George’s turn.

King Farouk of Egypt - predicted that at the end of WWII there would be five kings in Europe:

“Soon there will be only five Kings left- the King of Spades, The King of Clubs, the King of Hearts, and the King of Diamonds and the King of England."

I loved the bread and circuses moment, though, just as I did with Philip's.

No, she won't be "popping up topside again."

The coffin was lowered to the level where there is another chapel, the King George VI Memorial chapel. It's where her father (you know...King George VI) is entombed along with her mother. The private service for close family only is held there and not in the nave of St. George's Chapel where today's service was held and from which the coffin descended.

So no "popping up" is required.

I'm no royal-lover, but I at least I know enough history not to gloat and crow childishly over inaccuracies.

Visited England about 5 years ago. Where her parents Andrew sister are buried is a very simple room. Not ornamental in any way, especially compared to previous monarchs. I wonder if the room wil be updated.

Ever since watching some special on PBS about the Queen I have loved Sarah Chatto. She seems so real and nice and sweet and exuded genuine affection for the Queen. It's amazing she turned out so well when her parents were such messes. I bet the Queen helped raise her.

Pretty much all the queen’s kids are messed up, don’t think she would be different with other kids.
