Then you go live in an area where others share your views. |
Guess what, they're not! The book in question is nowhere near what you seem to be describing. I bet you want to ban Toni Morrison, too, don't you. How about we ban the Bible? Talk about explicit! Rapes, murder, teenagers being impregnated by god, descriptions of genitals. I'd like to ban that in every school. Agree? |
How about the libraries take a sharpie and black out that one image you find objectionable. Then can the book stay in the library? At what point of censorship will you be okay with it in? Is it only that single image that isn't all that graphic, or is it that you object to any book that doesn't present a heteronormative situation? |
Maybe they do and the Republican governor is still trying to override their objections. I'm glad you think that locals should get to dictate their own rules. I hope that also counts in other areas such as abortion. |
I think you know kids aren't checking out the Bible at school. |
I thought the point was to ban things conservatives fine objectionable like violent and sexual material, not whether it’s popular or not. There’s no consistency. |
Nah, fascism isn’t appropriate anywhere. Parents could already put a book on their tiny little high schooler’s no no list so they couldn’t check it out but nooooo the control freak conservatives have to take away this book from all the ittle wittle high schoolers to “protect” them. |
I was in Marshall HS today and was surprised what books were being promoted in the library display, along with the amount of pro LGBTQIP+ stuff all over campus. From the looks of it, you wouldn't think any other demographic existed on campus. I would have expected to see more signage for pro BIPOC issues. |
My kids never checked out Gender Queer. Hmm... |
What, no pro-hetersexual stuff?? |
That's passe. |
I mean, I see the hetersexual agenda / lifestyle promoted everywhere. TV, movies, music, books, advertisement. |
Agree it is one of the first signs, but so is censoring on social media. 🤷♀️ |
First of all, i work in public schools evaluatiing kids. If there is a Bible in the middle or high school media centers in my school system, you'd have to look hard to find them. I would have no objection to Toni Morrison's books in a senior high school. I stand by my previous comments that I do not think any sexually explicit materials should be in an elementary or middle school. |
No I was expecting other groups to have representation. Plenty of other groups need support. |
