Aside from being exceptionally old, no one, and I mean NO ONE should feel bad for the Queen. Monarchies across Europe have streamlined and modernized as they have embraced democracy and moved away from this entirely anachronistic form of government and figurehead power. The Queen has stubbornly refused to do the same and has made the family both less relevant and a source of tabloid fodder, sowing discord left and right, particularly within her own family. Whatever ruthless code of conduct she adheres to, no one else does and it's made the whole Firm basically a joke. Markle isn't changing that, like Fergie and Diana didn't before her. She's been a key figure in all of these relationships and she has basically a 100% failure rate; her own marriage is a joke. Her instincts suck. If Markle were a one-off I could get it, but the Queen has a decades-long history of orchestration and meddling that I don't respect a bit.

I think the media coverage will be worse. Already I saw they are criticizing her for not actually setting foot inside the women’s center she was photographed at earlier this week. They say she just met with leadership staff at their main office.

Seems like the media will continue to paint her as a media-obsessed, money-obsessed jerk. And maybe she is? There’s a thread on Bruce Springsteen where everyone is praising him for keeping his kids out of the media, and he managed to keep himself out of the media for five decades by living in NJ.

Meghan is enjoying her life now - so I think the decision was the right one. Out driving when she couldn’t in England and walking around (locals not papping her). Glad she has her freedom.

Kate and William drive all the time in England. Kate takes her kids to/from school herself everyday.

We have literally since her everyday since the “meeting.” Doesn’t this belie the fact that she was doing this for privacy/to get away from the paps? We never saw her this much in the U.K.!

That’s the point. Kate is a d British driver who grew up driving on the left side and steering from the right.

Meghan didn’t and with all the furor around her she never got to either - probably had to rely on someone else 24/7 which sounds like a prison to me.
