Sports General Discussion
I'm not sure if NCSL still does it this way, but when my son played several years ago, they eventually did publish the fall U11 scores, I think right before they put up the spring U11 divisions. We'd assumed that the fall scores would not ever be published and it was kind of embarrassing once they were. |
Yes. Then the gloating can stop. Perspective-these are 10 and 11-year old kids. Good lord. Vicarious living. |
Parents are disgusting. Some Clubs are really filled with d-bags riding on 9 and 10-year old glory. Wins don't matter at this age. Your kids personal development is what does. |
| If I were a parent on the team --I'd tell them to stop. Really. It's pathetic. |
So true. One parent I know likes to say that the games at this age are for the parents, not the kids. There is some value in competitive games, but the scores and records don't mean crap. |
I wrote the post about Arlington and SYC. My son's team played both of those teams. I'm not lobbying squat. I was surprised -- shocked, even -- that SYC's team was as good as it was. I'd seen their top teams at lower age groups, and they were nowhere near that level. They either brought in some fantastic players or are doing some great coaching. |
I've been lucky -- I haven't seen any gloating at the games. All good sportsmanship. On this board, of course, we should all stop talking about NCSL because it's not the sheer awesomeness that is CCL. And all the kids in Loudoun should drive to Arlington ... or vice versa, I forget. |
| I haven't seen much gloating either (U11B) — and my team has mostly been at the receiving end of the spankings. The parents have actually been pretty respectful (for which we are thankful!) |
| Does NCSL promote and relegate for U12 and up between the fall and spring seasons? We're getting blown out ;( |
Continued to be shocked. The development of players coming out of some of the smaller clubs in the area that have invested in club-centric training is producing some incredible playing. Kids passing and playing possession in a way that belies their years. There have been a lot of changes in local clubs in the past 3-4 years and we will just begin to see the changes. The push amongst the smaller clubs of not just picking the raw speed and size at 8 is paying off. |
| Well, does anyone know what SYC did this year (specifically) to improve? They were a joke when we played them last year. |
I hope so! I guess we'll find out in a few days how SYC did against Arlington, though the score often doesn't tell you the whole story. We've had blowouts each way that should've been closer and a couple of close games that should've been blowouts. |
WTF???? You are talking about C teams of 10 and 11-year olds. God---you really don't get it do you? Just like most everyone else in that Club that only looks at game scores of little kids. Oh yes---it will tell us these kids are destined for Man U City. Parents in Arlington think their kids shit gold. They aren't quite as bad as McLean, but they are gaining on them quickly. |

I asked the question about who people think will be in the top division. I was not gloating about any teams, clubs, etc. I'm just wondering who people think might be in the top division. We don't have to bash other teams, etc. So I've seen Bethesda South, Herndon Black, SYC Blue, Arlington Blue, SYC Orange, Ponce Eagles. I've heard that Takoma Park Black has a shot. If you don't want to participate, don't.
As to SYC...I also am shocked with them. Anyone know what they did over the summer? |
There are currently 9 U11 boy divisions in NCSL with approximately 10-11 team each. 100+ teams U11. You really haven't seen many play. Further, it's odd the teams you listed aren't even in the same division and other than arl and etc don't even play each other. Just scouting random 10-year old soccer games???? Weirdo. |
