Hahaha you got punked by the RIO people. They have been pushing for this.

So if we have a Crossfield kid at Carson in 7th grade now, will they have to go to a different school for 8th grade?

Good question. I assume this will be the following year. But, with this leadership, who knows.

Under no scenario would I have imagined moving Crossfield from Carson to Franklin. It is so much less convenient. Even in scenario 1, where they go to Skyview, they have them at Franklin instead of Carson, which is nonsensical, and eliminates one of the benefits of going to Skyview, which would have been that they would be moving with a cohort of friends from middle school.

The RIO moms were openly campaigning for the move to Carson. I posted it here a few times but some people just didn't believe a group of moms can make such a change.

They should have stuck with the high school boundaries and then worked on middle school afterwards. Then, elementary.

I think they did this to totally disrupt the whole community.

I think Scenario 2 is the cleanest and the least disruptive.

Not a fan of Scenario 2 as it creates a 4 way split feeder at Franklin. Everybody who is going to Skyview should go to Carson, they are next door to each other.

Scenario 2 leaves Oakton over capacity with lots more housing coming in the next couple of years. It pretty much ensures someone will be in the crosshairs again in the next review cycle. Probably Crossfield, and nowhere left for them to go except South Lakes.

If Crossfield goes to Skyview, they should ABSOLUTELY stay at Carson. Otherwise, they end up in the same situation as now where all their friends go to a different high school.

The RIO mommies really screwed us over. I hope enough parents revolt to make some changes.

I'm not familiar with the neighborhoods around Centreville.
But, Option 1 is the most logical and best for Skyview.

Lees Corner should stay at Chantilly. Those neighborhoods between Chantilly and Westfield should move long before Lee's Corner.

Sort out middle schools once high school is decided. Don't make it an all or nothing on the options.

Proximity and community should be biggest concern before split feeders.

Yeah that one doensn't make sense. Carson would have capacity to take on Oak Hill and keep Crossfield, especially once Franklin gets its own AAP center and all those kids return.

Agreed. Option 1 or Option 3, option 2 is just dumb.

I don't think anyone was expecting elementary school changes. Wow, just wow.

Option 1, but everyone who goes to Skyview should go to Carson. Alternatively, keep Oak Hill at Franklin. No need to swap Oak Hill and Crossfield.

Option 1 if we have to choose among these three options.

Exactly.

None of this happened in 2008.

Yes it was controversial and contentious, but this is nauseatingly bad it feels antagonistic.

You just contradicted what you said.

I think Scenario 1 except leave Lees Corner where it is and leave everyone at their same middle school.

You won't because you were too lazy to advocate for yourselves.
