Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
Yes, Carson and Franklin have had split feeder issues for years and that is not likely to change. However, from what I know living in the area for years, is that people are generally happy with both of them. Here is a fact: both Carson and Franklin will continue to be split feeders. May be split between different high schools but they will still be split. |
And that is simply ridiculous. Crossfield location moved from Hughes? South Lakes? That's near a street called Shady Mill- Flint Hill/Thoreau/Madison. AAP feed is Sunrise Valley and super ridiculous Jackson. Stu Gibson was not outlandish when he moved some Madison to South Lakes. But he and Strauss bowed to some Vienna non town developments. Meren should release Fox Mill and get some Marshall, Madison, Langley. Crossfield split between South Lakes and Oakton. Shuffle Navy Island to Crossfield and swap Waples Mill AAP to Navy with Crossfield replacing them at Hunters Woods. Just like some Langley should flow to Herndon and South Lakes. Addresses include Vienna, Herndon, Reston, Great Falls. |
They already said elementary schools will not be touched for now. |
Agree. Its just good sense to send them to Skyview. They are right there. Literally one of the reasons stated for buying the building was to move their neighborhood out of Oakton and to Skyview. |
The district’s Boundary Policy 8130 prioritizes the elimination or prevention of split feeders to ensure consistent student progression, equitable access to programs, and operational efficiency. |
Yes, lots of conflicting priorities in that policy. No way to know which factor is supposed to be most important and there will be tons of split feeders in the area regardless due to a mismatch in seats between MS and HS. Oh well too bad so sad. |
Every residence is served by one ES/MS/HS plus one AAP ES/AAP MS. Without changing ES base boundaries in this go round alot of this can be accomplished. FCPS is playing chess involving South Lakes with part of a game board missing. |
I can't believe the Navy island was able to survive again. |
+1 |
| All of Franklin Farm should be going to Skyview. |
Franklin Farm escaped SL in the 2008 redistricting. It will be interesting to see if they still have a corrupt government official in place to get them out of Skyview. |
They did not "escape" it. They were never in the mix. The only part of Crossfield in the mix was Fox Mill Woods. During that boundary study, I THINK the only ones redistricted to Skyview were in Hunter Mill district. The district borders may be slightly different now. Sully schools were pretty much determined by Kathy Smith. I don't think Strauss sent any Dranesville students to South Lakes--except maybe some that are now in Hunter Mill? |
There will be some split feeders but there don’t need to be tons of split feeders. And at least we don’t need to split MS kids 5 different ways, or having high schools where most kids went to MS together and a small number come in from other schools (looking at you, SLHS) |
| If you are going to have a 3 way split feeder, what difference does it make at that point whether its 4 or 5 ways. |
Corruption at it's finest. Always some good excuse for gerrymandering? Franklin Farms at it's finest folks. Rooted in Corruption. Your little AI generated website leaves that part out. |
