Sports General Discussion
| I think the Metro Futsal League is a great league. Last year it was well organized. Great facilities. GMU and NOVA Community College. However, needs more teams to enter to get a better balance of competition. It might be on the pricier side of futsal leagues but if you are near, I recommend this league. |
Agree with them needing more teams. We were the only u9 team so we had to get a full refund. Might end up at the sportsplex...while its not futsal my son loves playing there. |
Not a great experience last year...Excellent facilities, yes...but not very competitive. |

Has anyone played or seen any games with the new buildout line?

Wow. What is BRYC doing for futsal this winter? They usually send a lot of teams to this league. |
The ID teams are full as far as I know. They held tryouts about a month ago. They also run a league that's open to any other teams to join: http://www.alexandria-soccer.org/futsal-programs. It's well run and the refs actually know the futsal rules (no body checking), which is not always true with other leagues (Dulles, Kidschoice). The Alexandria Futsal ID teams will compete in this league and also do a few tournments, including the US Regionals in NJ in Feb. |
yeah I though that is how all u9 and u10 ages are playing, is that not the case ? |
Funny that you ask. We went to watch my niece's U10 game last weekend and they used this rule.. It works really well. Wish it had been around when my kids were little. |
It is not the case and it really needs to be implemented. It's so frustrating to seem coaches encouraging marking tight on goal kicks. The only think the GK can do is boot it. Punting should be banned (and bring back heading). If you coach encourages punting and marking tight on goal kicks, ask him/her why? It should be stopped. |
The buildout line is part of a group of U.S. Soccer mandates that officially go into effect in fall 2017. Some parts of them (age groups) have been implemented this year. I hate that my kids are too old and will miss it. Saw some really dreary U9 games that were nothing but bad goal kicks. Yay, development! |
| Any idea if NCSL will tier the U11 boys divisions in the spring? |
They usually do. We parents are all going under the assumption that they will. |
Your response makes it seem like you parents are making a decision based on whether they will or not. Does it matter to you parents if they do or not? |
Interesting. Any idea what the top division will look like? Ponce Eagles? Herndon Black? |
My kid is U10 this year and usually plays this way so that's why I thought it was already being used widely, I started seeing games with the build out lines last spring. The team is encouraged to play out of the back and keep possession so the new rules help reinforce some of that. |
