It moves a lot of kids out of CVHS to a much further away HS. More of a lower income/middle class area so maybe FCPS is hoping they don't mobilize like the Rooted in Oakton people.

Moving the Lees Corner area to Westfield makes a lot more sense geographically as it is much closer to Westfield than those far western parts of the CVHS zone.
I think the LC people will scream louder, though, as its a much wealthier area than that part of the Centreville zone being moved.

What? They will throw a fit because some are walking distance from Chantilly. They are not "much closer" to Westfield. Those suggested to be moved to Westfield from Centreville are also a long, long way from Centreville. Lees Corner is very, very close to Chantilly. They can walk home from after school activities. Moving them to Westfield would be egregious.

Scenario 2 is the only acceptable option. The others don't make much sense.

Obviously, you are a LC family. Many Centreville families being moved are MUCH closer to CVHS than Westfield. LC is much closer to Westfield than those Centreville families are to Westfield. LC proximity to CHS is not relevant as ALL the CHS neighborhoods are closer to CHS than any other school and someone has to go.

Just look at the map.

I agree, any Chantilly neighborhood is going to be closer to CHS than any other school. Its a very compact boundary. Someone has to be moved. LC makes sense if they are trying to fill up Westfield-its the closest CHS neighborhood to Westfield.

If I had a crystal ball I would predict that the LC families start screaming and, being a much more well-off, connected area than the Bull Run ES neighborhoods...they will get their way and stay at Chantilly, regardless of what makes sense logically and geographically.

Much of Bull Run is just as close to Westfield as Centreville. Look at a map.

None of Lee's Corner is just as close to Westfield as they are to Chantilly.

For example, most of Lee's Corner is closer to Chantilly than Poplar Tree students.

Look at a map.

I think its interesting that Lees Corner was never even suggested in any of the other previous scenarios.

I don't think its fair that the RIO people seem to have gotten what they wanted for sure when it makes so much sense to send some of those kids to a closer school than Oakton.

WHAT THE HELL??? Crossfield families do not want to move to Franklin. It's a shitty middle school. KEEP CROSSFIELD AT CARSON.

To be clear, Scenario 1 moves Crossfield to Skyview.

Its really....not. The entirety of Lees Corner zone is MUCH closer to Westfield than any part of the Bull Run zone being proposed to move. No part of the Bull Run zone being moved is closer or even equivalent distance to Westfield as the entirety of Lees Corner.

I'm sorry that upsets you, but the map is the map. I think your neighborhood will cry and get to stay at CHS, but that's due to politics, not logic.

Distance from Bull Run ES to Westfield: 6.2 miles
Distance from Lees Corner ES to Westfield: 4.1 miles
Distance from CVHS Uniontown neighborhood to Westfield: approximately 7 miles (no neighborhood in Lees Corner is more than 4 miles from Westfield)

Chill out. If you're staying at Oakton you absolutely should be moved to Franklin.

OK in that case, I vote for scenario 1 just b/c the RIO people are SO obnoxious.

This is clearly untrue. Do you know how to use google maps?

Most kids zoned to Westfield will be closer to another high school. That's the downside of building a school not in a residential neighborhood. There aren't 2600 kids who are closer to Westfield than any other high school. The argument that X neighborhood is closer to Chantilly, Skyview, Centreville, etc. is irrelevant.

When you are walking distance, it is hard to justify a move to Westfield.

And, some of Bull Run is closer to Westfield than Centreville, and most of it is equidistant in time. But, you know that, too.
Sending Lees Corner to Westfield will increase need for more buses because of time traveled. Except for a couple of neighborhoods, moving Bull Run to Westfield is a wash

Hahaha you got punked by the RIO people. They have been pushing for this.
