It moves a lot of kids out of CVHS to a much further away HS. More of a lower income/middle class area so maybe FCPS is hoping they don't mobilize like the Rooted in Oakton people.

Moving the Lees Corner area to Westfield makes a lot more sense geographically as it is much closer to Westfield than those far western parts of the CVHS zone.
I think the LC people will scream louder, though, as its a much wealthier area than that part of the Centreville zone being moved.

Scenarios 1&3 take the southern part of Fox Mill Estates (currently walkers to Fox Mill ES) and move them to Crossfield (Bus) while taking part of Floris and moving them to Fox Mill (Bus).

They really need to do a better job of keeping neighborhoods together so that your friend that lives across the street doesn't go to a different school.

The amount of ES shuffling they did with these scenarios is the part that's caught me off guard the most. It's honestly more impactful and jarring than the MS and HS changes, they tear neighborhoods apart in these scenarios.

This. I was not expecting the elementary changes.

A lot of the ES level changes don't make any logical sense.

Is there some secret agenda to try to keep FARMs rates even, or something? I can't make any logical sense out of some of these.

Same. I'm not sure the logic they used for a lot of these.

What? They will throw a fit because some are walking distance from Chantilly. They are not "much closer" to Westfield. Those suggested to be moved to Westfield from Centreville are also a long, long way from Centreville. Lees Corner is very, very close to Chantilly. They can walk home from after school activities. Moving them to Westfield would be egregious.

I think they are doing this to get the anointed scenario for the high school. This is not necessary. It is crazy.

They are moving Oak Hill out of Chantilly. They don't need to move Lee's Corner out under any circumstance.

I thought one of the purposes of buying Skyview was to relieve overcrowding in the area?

I don't understand moving kids out of Centreville to Westfield to keep Westfield's numbers at 2800 and reduce Centreville's down to 1800.

Especially when they just approved a CIP that continues to contemplate expanding Centreville to 3000…

Reminder: LOTS of new construction by Westfield.

I cannot seem to find the logic behind this move. I’m assuming they’re moving some of the Floris kids because with moving some of the Coates kids it puts Floris at capacity? And likely over in the next few years with all the townhouse construction?

Also looks like Crossfield is at Skyview in only one of the scenarios.

According to Gatehouse those numbers factor in the new construction projections.

Westfield Ratios
Current - 2,755/2,815 = 98%
Scenario 1 - 2,308/2,815 = 82% (Includes Lee's Corner)
Scenario 2 - 2,308/2,815 = 82% (Includes Bull Run & Western Chantilly)
Scenario 3 - 2,702/2,815 = 96% (Includes Lee's Corner, Bull Run, and Western Chantilly)

There is no scenario listed where Westfield does not get backfilled by someone. Hard to imagine Westfield HS at 2,300 students. Its been over 2,600 and up to 3,300 for two decades.
