Bass versus Rice now?

Bass seems less controversial than Rice.

We're just speculating. Who knows.

I also didn't see Demings on the speaker list, but I know it is being constantly updated.

True!

Yes, but I wouldn't necessarily expect Demings as a speaker either. Only in the House a few years and hasn't done much yet. The other speakers are more established. Though she could give a strong law and order/reform speech, but maybe Kamala will be speaking along those lines anyway.

+1 Demings and Rice missing from the list is NBD. But Bass missing seems HUGE.

Seems like she'd be a particularly good fit for Rice or Bass, but I'm sure would work well with any of them.

She also had a rather famous moment with Harris:

Hadn't seen that clip before. She will be a fierce protector of her principal for sure.

Especially as Chair of CBC.

She would typically NOT be on the list, so NBD.

Maybe, but also true the list isn't finished yet. Buttigieg filmed a character testimonial that will air Thursday, a PP was right he was in Wilmington to film:

VP's chief of staff has been named: Karine Jean-Pierre

Wouldn't the veep nominee choose the chief of staff?

I think they want to hit the ground running since this is going to be a strange campaigning season b/c of COVID, also because it looks like Whitmer is the pick, they want to surround her with insiders, including women of color, to help ease the transition to the national stage.

Here is an updated list, which includes Buttigieg on Thursday. The list could be incomplete but there is another potential clue. Among the caucuses scheduled to meet, the Congressional Black Caucus is not listed (!)

What would that mean?

It might have meant its Chair was unavailable, but every news source seems to be incomplete so let's not jump to conclusions. The official convention website does list Black Caucus meetings, of course it would be bizarre for the meetings not to happen regardless. But the website is hard to navigate and I couldn't find the speakers lists.

Yes, the Jean-Pierre pick does not necessarily mean the VP pick is Black by any means. But I think a PP made an interesting point that Wed night speaker line-up is mostly white, which could point to a Black VP pick.

And Barack Obama right after the VP nominee - leads me to believe that it would be Susan Rice. He was the one who advocated strongly for her and the lineup makes sense.
