His first choice turned him down.

Kamala was the natural first choice for the name recognition. She didn’t want to gamble on Biden. The recent op-Ed by Willie was planted to let people know Kamala was asked but politely declined.

Then Biden needed to delay to find a plan B.

It better not be Rice. Even my most liberal pals acknowledge she has too many vulnerable areas ripe for criticism.

Crazy theory. Kamala wants it so bad she had her team do savage oppo dumps on Rice and Bass. No way in hell she’s turning it down. Every article reports she wants it badly.

Citation that the “savage oppo dumps” came from her?

It was reported in at least two articles that Dems believed the opposition dumps came from a rival. Who do you think they were thinking of, and David Axelrod?

David Axelrod

I can’t remember any VP selection process where so much oppo research has been dumped. If I were
@JoeBiden, looking for a good and loyal partner, that should be a source of concern.

All that is is Axelrod speculating.

Along with two other political reporters, including the NY Times.

Bass versus Rice now?

Bass seems less controversial than Rice.

Seems like she'd be a particularly good fit for Rice or Bass, but I'm sure would work well with any of them.

We're just speculating. Who knows.

She also had a rather famous moment with Harris:

I also didn't see Demings on the speaker list, but I know it is being constantly updated.

It would be happy day.

Someone who could step in on day 1 and liase with governors on behalf of the WH, and manage the federal pandemic response? And who's been at the forefront of racial issues in her state? And who seems to have little baggage? Sure, I'd be happy. I'd be equally happy with Rice, Warren, Bass, or Duckworth, just for different reasons. They all have different strengths.

Jfc.

Whitmer would be an excellent choice. Harris would be excellent. I'm warming to Duckworth. Rice and Bass would not be an asset as VP, but would be happy with them in the cabinet, for sure.

Yes, but I wouldn't necessarily expect Demings as a speaker either. Only in the House a few years and hasn't done much yet. The other speakers are more established. Though she could give a strong law and order/reform speech, but maybe Kamala will be speaking along those lines anyway.

What’s it called when you pick someone for a job based solely on race or gender? It seems like there’s a word for that.

Incredibly racist and sexist comment, given the excellent qualifications of the women under consideration.

He's going to want to maximize the divisiveness that Harris caused by criticizing Biden. Probably "bus rider Kamala" or "little bus girl, Kamala". If she is the VP pick, then he will want to keep the way she pounced on Biden like an attack dog in the forefront of the voters minds to show that they are not a cohesive team.

Because Trump and his team are so very tight -- until he fires them in a tweet and they write a best seller revealing what a $%^&show this administration is.

Trump attacks. He never reflects on how hypocritical his argument are. Anything that is hypocritical, his response is that, maybe it applies a little to his side, but everything is so much worse on their side.
