What makes you think Crossfield is staying at Oakton? That's not what I've heard after talking to multiple school board members. Just because a small group of Crossfield and former Crossfield parents have a Facebook page doesn't mean that's what the community wants. I have a first grader and every parent I know has written letters and been vocal about moving to Skyview. Lees Corner is practically across the street from Chantilly. It would be absurd to send them to Skyview.

They should not even be presenting an option that moves Lees Corner to Skyview. All that would demonstrate is that they are intimidated by the obnoxious Crossfield parents.

Lees Corner will definitely be an option. They are presenting THREE options, and many of us had already seen the "Option E" and most of us heard Reid saying Oakton and SLHS may not see the changes.

Do I agree with it? Absolutely not. But we will see the Lees Corner option.

+1

Then Reid should be called out as the incompetent sycophant that she all too regularly has become. Lees Corner should not be moved out of Chantilly in any option.

She and the school board are making the erroneous assumption that because they haven’t heard from that community they will be ok with it. The Lees Corner community will need to mobilize, and fast. Get your kids to speak at meetings if they feel so inclined. Crossfield had a big head start on mounting opposition.

People should not be expected to mobilize in advance to oppose a proposal that is absurd on its face. If Lees Corner has to mobilize on short notice to oppose a ridiculous proposal to rezone them to Skyview, they should simultaneously organize recall petitions for the two School Board members who represent families zoned to Lees Corner: Seema Dixit (Sully) and Sandy Anderson (Springfield).

The Lees Corner community will not stay silent. These are mostly very involved parents who love Chantilly.

Yeah we used to live over that way years ago and that is the sense I got… families seemed very invested in being part of the Chantilly HS community.

The Factual Options will be out this week, THEN the complaining can begin.

No dog in this fight b/c my kids are at Westfield, but its insane that anyone would consider moving a neighborhood right next to CHS to another HS instead of moving Herndon kids out of Oakton. Oakton is SO far away.

Westfield is very much in this fight. There are kids that will be moved from Westfiled to Skyview and kids moved to Westfield to backfill the ones moved out.

Our neighborhood won't change either way, and why would I care who is moved in or out?

I am thinking Oakton HS families won't want to move to Skyview nor would Chantilly HS families. What are the views of families currently in South Lakes HS? Do they want to go into Skyview or do they want to stay with South Lakes?

Honey, Oak Hill wants to move to Skyview.

Don’t be stupidity.

Chantilly families want other Chantilly families to move out, so Chantilly is not overcrowded.

???
I think Oak Hill would happily stay at Chantilly, but they are smart enough to know they will be assigned to Skyview. And, they know that Skyview will be a good school. They also appreciate a close location as they realize how important that is. They know that one reason Chantilly is popular is that everyone lives close. That is a good thing.

We are a Floris SLHS fam. We want to move so our kids don’t get split up from the rest of their Floris/Carson friends in high school. We are also much closer to Skyview then South Lakes so it’s a no brainer.

One of the main reasons for buying KAA (renamed "Skyview") was to bring down the enrollment at Chantilly. It seems clear that they need to move Oak Hill out of Chantilly to Skyview, or they look completely foolish.

As for South Lakes, some at Fox Mill and Floris zoned to South Lakes want to move to Skyview and others want to stay at South Lakes.

But the money has already been spent, so their feelings quite honestly shouldn't matter at this point. All county taxpayers have to foot the bill for Skyview, and we have a right to insist that FCPS now make good use of the additional space.

The cost of the missed opportunity to fill this school at least 30% with magnet students/programs (that take advantage of some of the unique facilities opportunities it provides) grows starker with each passing month.

No. The missed opportunity was to assign the most logical boundary (which was presented at the beginning) and move forward with establishing a traditional school.
The community surrounding the school would like a traditional school.
