I’m hoping it’s Fauci.

Shouldn’t we get through Covid before we give him a Dept? And I like him, but he is about to turn 80.

With all due respect to Fauci, and I do like him, someone untainted by the Trumpist response and questionable advice (no masks etc) is needed. Quite frankly, I would be open to a Secondment from NZ gov for a Covid response.

Fauci has served under six Presidents faithfully and without censure. He was an excellent public health scientist under Obama and tried to mitigate the disaster that is Trump. I’m not holding that against him - he held the line until Biden could get to us when others faltered and failed.

Come on though. Birx is getting the hits (deservedly) but Fauci too could have done differently. I haven’t walked in his shoes so don’t know. But I think it might be good to go back into NIH and advisory retirement with the nation’s love and accolades. How did we end up in a place where half the nation believes not wearing masks is fine, almost a year into this Covid technical
leadership.
Look at New Zealand example for independent civil servants and scientific, consistent leadership by public health people

We ended up here because the President of the United States refused to mask + called it a hoax until he ended up sick, the CDC failed us (after lauding all over the world like pompous idiots for half a century) and the Surgeon General’s a coward and turncoat.

Why ire for the SG? Based on the results, he’s been more consistent than the other experts on the Task Force?

He’s been a useless wallflower who spent more time in front of a camera maskless until about September than doing tours to our stricken hospitals. F him.

Yes, Axios says likely Blinken, will not be Rice.

It was never going to be Rice. I don't know how many times that needs to be said.

Is she getting anything in this Administration? Defense is still open. Not much left for someone of Amb. Rice's stature.

Many people on this board who worked with her fervently, and sure sounded like with good reason, hope she is not in fact getting anything in this Administration. She could try to run in Maine but Mainers will see right through that.
