True, but being mildly overweight is associated with better health.

You don’t know where OPs wife started.

If she’s 5’2” and started at 100 lbs, and is now 140lbs, she is barely overweight. To be obese, she would have had to be overweight to start with.
Huh? At 5'2" that is about 30 pounds overweight.

No. 135 pounds is a normal BMI at 5 foot two. Look it up.
Overweight starts at 136. https://www.bmi-chart.info/

Not that I need a chart to tell me a 5'2" woman is overweight at 140. And women that short do NOT carry that weight well at all.

The BMI standard is really quite forgiving. My wife is 5'6" and 120. I remember when she was mid pregnancy and got up to 140. She was... a big girl. I can't imagine someone 5'2" thinking they're any semblance of healthy at that weight. Wife felt HUGE at 140.

140 pounds is not HUGE.
It's huge on a 5'2" woman. That woman would have no waist line at all. Just belly.

You are absolutely wrong that 140 would mean all belly and man you sound like just a horrible person. And i think you post this idiocy all the time. It is so tiresome and you are blind to how callous and limited you sound.

My husband loves me. No matter what I've looked like. For 36 years and counting. And he's supportive. He's bald, we're both aging, I've had health issues along the way, and it doesn't interfere with our actual relationship.

Everyone should be loved.

Op I don't know if you are still reading however some practical things you can do to help your wife. When you go shopping don't buy any junk food. Keep the house clean.

Start helping with the cooking. Find some healthy filling recipes and make them. 99% of weight loss is food so start there. Make sure you have healthy snacks in the house for when she gets hungry.

Suggest a walk each evening after dinner. If she asks say you want to concentrate on being healthier.

not on 5'6". On 5'2" 140 is at least 20 pounds overweight and that's pretty rough on a short girl. No 5'2" 140 woman has a waist line.

Try dropping 20-30 pounds and see how much more he loves/lusts after you.

Actually, no, I had a good waist actually. I'm not saying I was THIN by any means, but I didn't have rolls or even extra fat spilling out the edges of my bra.

You didn’t have a belly when you were pregnant? Sounds like you were doing it wrong.

There's a big difference between a pregnant 5'-6" woman at 140 and a non-pregnant 5'-6" woman at 140. For obvious reasons they carry their weight very different. A non-pregnant woman would also have less bloating due to less blood volume and depending on muscle/fat composition could look very fit at that height. If your wife is very non-athletic she would probably look fat at 140, unlike some other posters.

It all depends on the body type. If PP’s wife has no waist to begin with and small butt, then 20 extra lbs on the belly is a lot. I have a hour glass figure and I never had a belly (except when pregnant), but my butt and boos do grow if I gain weight. I am smaller byway 5’3” and 120

Who said anything about fat rolls or bra fat on pregnant women?

If you want to see what your wife will look like when she’s older, take a look at her mother.

Dude.
Your wife is the one who will be there for you when your parents die; when you lose your job; when you are lying in a hospital bed with terminal cancer.
If you can’t deal with the superficiality of her weight, then let her go. But realize what you are losing.
