We aren't going to have good data for many years unfortunately. |
Yup I agree with this. The basic theory though is (1.) average age (2.) air quality in Lombardy (3.) exposure from Wuhan factory workers and (4.) the way deaths are being counted in Italy. In some instances people are being tested after they have died and are counted as a COVID death if they test positive, regardless of the cause of death. No real way to know how much of this is going on, as there is a lot of fake propaganda and noise from different factions that is difficult to decipher until more thorough data comes out. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/bronsonstocking/2020/03/21/so-thats-why-italys-coronavirus-death-rate-is-so-high-n2565445 |
https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/how-to-understand-and-report-figures-for-covid-19-deaths- Try this. On the contrary, we probably undercounted some COVID deaths that happened in February and attributed them to other causes because the pandemic wasn’t in full swing in the U.S. |
It’s funny you should mention swine flu. This exact problem is referenced on the data section of its wiki page: The initial outbreak received a week of near-constant media attention. Epidemiologists cautioned that the number of cases reported in the early days of an outbreak can be very inaccurate and deceptive, due to several causes, among them selection bias, media bias and incorrect reporting by governments. Inaccuracies could also be caused by authorities in different countries looking at differing population groups. Furthermore, countries with poor health care systems and older laboratory facilities may take longer to identify or report cases."[E]ven in developed countries the [numbers of flu deaths] are uncertain, because medical authorities don't usually verify who actually died of influenza and who died of a flu-like illness" |
The same wiki article states that for both swine flu and regular flu, the real number of deaths is much higher than the number of confirmed cases. |
Evidence that many more people are dying in Italy than are counted in the official statistics. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bloomberg.com/amp/opinion/articles/2020-04-01/coronavirus-italy-shows-we-may-be-underestimating-death-toll |
Nah .. they're dying from the 5G. |
Number of deaths higher than confirmed cases? You sure about that? That’s a LOT of people. Did you even click on the source? It was WHO spin and post-hoc rationalization trying to save face for getting people whipped up into a frenzy. “Unquestionably higher”? Well...duh, they were still tallying the deaths lol. A nothing statement and a flu that ended up being a giant nothingburger. WHO was repeating China’s line that Corona isn’t transmitted human to human just a short while ago. They should be treated as prima facie suspect given their track record. Mistrust, but verify my friend. |
That is NOT what that article says lol |
Sorry, I mispoke. I meant the estimated number of deaths determined after the pandemic was over is much higher than the number of deaths due to confirmed cases. You appear not to have read the article or clicked on the sources yourself, because the estimates I was referring to from the CDC and the Lancet. So you just shot the wrong messenger. |
Read it again. Many more deaths this year in those locations than in a normal year, and many more than the reported deaths due to COVID. So what are these other people dying of? Article suggests some possibilities. |
Also your condescending amusement at death statistics is noted. Let's us know what you think is really important. |
For one city, in one week in Italy. Do you understand how irresponsible extrapolating like that is? Plenty has already been said in this thread about Italy’s tallying procedures and plenty is out there if you actually care to find it. |
