Lot of women potential choices that aren’t harris or klobs

Tammy duckworth too-how I would love to see that war hero with no legs kick Mike Pence’s a**. But I agree it is probably harris or klobuchar. And with Biden being as old as he is, they’re both strong choices.

It will not be Harris. Not only does she bring no added value to the ticket (no real appeal to black voters), she did not endorse Biden before the California primary.

No way. Too inexperienced to be a heartbeat away from the presidency with an elderly president. And the VP will not be a white man, guaranteed. It will have to be someone younger and more energetic than Joe (not hard) but experienced, and check at least one diversity box. And not risk a Senate seat. I'm not sure anyone discussed so far works.

Deming and Whitmer work with most of this, but not great in the experience category. I think that will be a real issue.

Whitmer hasn't been governor for long but she seems to have a pretty good track record in Michigan and is pretty popular as a Democrat who's made real progress addressing bread and butter issues important to her state.

And I would argue that governor of a populous purplish state with its share of financial challenges is more valuable experience than serving a term in the US Senate.

+1 and both sides of the state legislature she’s dealing with are Republican. Hideously gerrymandered, but Republican.

You guys keep saying that and there’s no evidence for it. Your second point is a good one, though.

No it will be a woman and/or a person of color. I think Peter will get a cabinet appointment, either Defense or State.

Chief of staff first. Then moving on to Sec State or Defense or UN

She will do a great job. She could deliver the battleground states!

Biden/Whitmer 2020

So this just happened:

She could help win MN, WI, Michigan, Ohio, PA. She could pull female voters away from Trump. She could bring young people out because she would be the first female and she is everything HRC wasn’t. She is a great speaker. She is younger and remember Obama did not have much experience either. She would be the strongest pick.

I agree with all of this, and think she would be absolutely fantastic.

That’s a GREAT idea. Not sure he would take it because I can’t imagine being electable after that gig.

Unfortunately, due to historical racism, there are no Latinx politicians right now that have the experience to really step up as VPOTUS. A VPOTUS candidate has to be a strong enough politican with enough experience that they could step into the presidency if necessary. Especially when we are dealing with electing a near octagenarian president, we need to ensure that the VP on the ticket is someone that the country can feel comfortable with taking over the country in an emergency. Remember that with both Sanders and Biden, there are health concerns and even if we aren't expecting them to die in office (despite the superstition of years ending in 0), either one could have a health problem that takes them out of office for days, weeks or months and the country will hesitate if the running mate is not someone they feel is capable of handling the presidency in an absence.

The right candidate needs to have either solid executive experience or years of federal experience. You saw how much was made about whether or not Buttigieg had enough experience as only a small town mayor. Right now, the Castro brothers are the only two with enough national name recognition and recognizable experience that might add to the ticket.

Funny thought...maybe the ticket should be Buttigieg/Ocasio in 2032.

I can digggit I can digggit
He can digggit he can digggit
She can digggit she can digggit....

Can you digggit?

No, I think experience really matters for chief of staff. That's a tough gig, the person needs to really know how Washington works not learn on the fly.

DP, 100% this. But I like the idea in principle. He will land on good footing as long as he keeps his integrity and stays true to himself.

The prospect of Whitmer as VP has me very excited, hope it goes that way!

I have never heard of Val Demings but she’s 62, definitely not a fresh face.

Gretchen Whitmer is an interesting choice that I hadn’t considered before.

Not to be a cliche but OMG Demings does not look anywhere near 62. I thought she was at least ten years younger than that.
