She will do a great job. She could deliver the battleground states! Biden/Whitmer 2020 |
It is Amy and she already knows. |
She turns 60 in May. Pence, like me, is one year older. |

Gretchen Whitmer Catherine Cortez-masto Stacey abrams Tammy Baldwin Lot of women potential choices that aren’t harris or klobs |
Tammy duckworth too-how I would love to see that war hero with no legs kick Mike Pence’s a**. But I agree it is probably harris or klobuchar. And with Biden being as old as he is, they’re both strong choices. |
I think if Biden is thinking about Pete like he’s another Beau — it’s Pete. |
Well, he thought the same thing about Connor Lamb - so maybe it will be Lamb! |
No it will be a woman and/or a person of color. I think Peter will get a cabinet appointment, either Defense or State. |
I think Pete has great potential, but he's not even close to qualified to be Secretary of Defense or State. That's sort of preposterous. SecDef should require significant military experience, which he does not have. SecState should require significant diplomatic experience, which he does not have. And don't talk to me about the Trump administration officials because I don't think our country should judge its leaders by such a low standard. We need to reach higher than that. |
I agree about Defense, but I think he would actually be okay in State. He's highly intelligent, is an excellent communicator, and has great instincts. Previous Secs of State have not necessarily had a strong background in diplomacy. |
Harris really adds nothing to the ticket. CA is in the blue column for sure and she brings some baggage. Klobuchar would be fine but she doesn't bring anything several of the others in the list above don't also bring. Val Deming could be what swings Florida blue, not an insignificant point in her favor. Gretchen Whitmer could be the deciding factor in Michigan and help swing purple states in the Midwest. Stacey Abrams could potentially be the cornerstone of a southern strategy to swing purple states in the South. I think absolute qualifications are 1) no baggage and 2) some regional factor that complements Biden. Demographics are nice to have but secondary. Women and POC* are already voting blue by a significant margin so while passing over qualified women and POC AGAIN would be a slap in the face, women and POC are still going to show up and vote blue. Caveat being that a nod to Latinx POC could influence voters who are fairly divided between Trump and Democrats. |
No way. Too inexperienced to be a heartbeat away from the presidency with an elderly president. And the VP will not be a white man, guaranteed. It will have to be someone younger and more energetic than Joe (not hard) but experienced, and check at least one diversity box. And not risk a Senate seat. I'm not sure anyone discussed so far works. |
Deming and Whitmer work with most of this, but not great in the experience category. I think that will be a real issue. |
She looks like she just got back from Mardi Gras. |
