04 never had them many leave.

Probabley ODFC 05 team that merged with FCV.

I remeber thinking "big mistake".

But I'm sure history will repeat itself. Always does.

04 Premier. ODFC 05 team wasn't going to be able to stay together so not sure how it was a "big mistake". They were stuck in a club with no pathway and, frankly, ODFC's record for losing teams speaks for itself. Their other 05 girls team left this year, 3 boys teams left last year. They can't have more than 6-7 teams left.

The mistake was not leaving ODFC. The mistake was joining the wrong club. That's why most of the team left for other clubs after one year.

Maybe so. Difficult, though, to stay together if some players are capable of making DA/ECNL and others are not.

It was a bait and switch.

Always someone else’s fault eh?

I made the comment and I'm not part of either club or team. I'm not pointing the finger at anyone nor placing blame. However, I am telling you what WILL happen with every single "merger" with FCV. A team will go over believing they will stay together but they wont.

I've seen it with Ashburn, Annandale, Loudoun, and now ODFC. They will take what they want and let the rest go to the B team.

It is what it is.

As opposed to what? You want to just keep team together instead of moving the strongest players to top team? Who does that?

Then let those players leave if they want. But FCV simply makes promises to teams because they just want 2 players and then the rest of the team follows along and gets dismantled to fill out their NPL teams.

Complainers complain. It’s what they do.

FCV lies and misrepresents to get what they want. That’s what they do. Stating that isn’t a complaint but it is fact.

Lots of shady individuals in the youth soccer biz. Far more are shady than not.

Find a new club.

Some of us are here to share valuable insight. Others have an agenda. Pretty obvious who the trolls are.

Did you really think your DD’s ODFC team would stay together forever and the top players would never move on? Delusional.

No one was delusion. We knew what would happen eventually. That’s why we agreed to go there. To have a better inside shot at the top DA team. However, once many of us met the DA coaches we realized we’d rather play elsewhere. Soccer is just not that important to deal with the FCV jokers, and there are a lot of other options in nova.

Out of curiosity, how did your team get approached...or did you guys approach them.

That ODFC team was being courted by more than just FCV.

No, but unless your kid is a unquestioned top five starter you should be more aware of these practices because the next team FCV absorbs could have a player who sends your kid to the bench or worse.

Just remember, there is always someone better than your kid.

I still don't get this arguement. Every single team has starters and bench players. EVERY. SINGLE. TEAM. If every bench player left their team, there would only be 11 person rosters. Don't get the argument.

Leaving and being pushed out are two different things.

Being a starter and being pushed to the bench in favor of the new recruit is different.

Just remember that FCV is always looking for a kid better than your kid.

Just a fact. No argument for or against the practice because it is how teams do get better. I just love the parent arrogance at FCV who believe their kid is untouchable because they are at FCV.

Well, with all the options available to players now the typical churn at FCV will be less because they aren’t the only game in town. Another reason that the arrogance is even more ridiculous now than ever before.

Maybe we should start a "Most Arrogant Club" thread? This thread is way overcooked by now ...

2004/U16 are mostly rising sophomores and need to get the attention and on the lists of college coaches. 2003/U17 are mostly rising juniors, are reaching out to college coaches right now, and if they’re going DI or competitive DIII will be verbally committed within the year, some stragglers early next year. rankings for U18 or for U15 and below just don’t matter. Being on a team that can get you in front of college coaches, whether through connections or showcasing, during sophomore and junior years is what matters for girls who want to play in college. For everyone else, play where it’s fun and makes sense for your family.
