04 never had them many leave.

Probabley ODFC 05 team that merged with FCV.

I remeber thinking "big mistake".

But I'm sure history will repeat itself. Always does.

04 Premier. ODFC 05 team wasn't going to be able to stay together so not sure how it was a "big mistake". They were stuck in a club with no pathway and, frankly, ODFC's record for losing teams speaks for itself. Their other 05 girls team left this year, 3 boys teams left last year. They can't have more than 6-7 teams left.

The mistake was not leaving ODFC. The mistake was joining the wrong club. That's why most of the team left for other clubs after one year.

Maybe so. Difficult, though, to stay together if some players are capable of making DA/ECNL and others are not.

It was a bait and switch.

In what way?

Always someone else’s fault eh?

I made the comment and I'm not part of either club or team. I'm not pointing the finger at anyone nor placing blame. However, I am telling you what WILL happen with every single "merger" with FCV. A team will go over believing they will stay together but they wont.

I've seen it with Ashburn, Annandale, Loudoun, and now ODFC. They will take what they want and let the rest go to the B team.

It is what it is.

This is how FCV gets their best players.

As opposed to what? You want to just keep team together instead of moving the strongest players to top team? Who does that?

Then let those players leave if they want. But FCV simply makes promises to teams because they just want 2 players and then the rest of the team follows along and gets dismantled to fill out their NPL teams.

Did you really think your DD’s ODFC team would stay together forever and the top players would never move on? Delusional.

No one was delusion. We knew what would happen eventually. That’s why we agreed to go there. To have a better inside shot at the top DA team. However, once many of us met the DA coaches we realized we’d rather play elsewhere. Soccer is just not that important to deal with the FCV jokers, and there are a lot of other options in nova.

Out of curiosity, how did your team get approached...or did you guys approach them.

Kind of happened mutually. Coach was looking to get out of odfc and do two things: 1) get access to just a few more top notch players to be able to win a State cup (which we did) and 2) get the players access to better opportunities (which they did, whether it was at FCV or other clubs). The rest of what happened later is personal preference stuff. So original mission accomplished.

FCV lies and misrepresents to get what they want. That’s what they do. Stating that isn’t a complaint but it is fact.

Lots of shady individuals in the youth soccer biz. Far more are shady than not.
