You mean don’t have kids in the US. |
Teachers are salaried employees. |
Teachers should get overtime pay |
You had teachers email today with work that must be completed on a snow day? |
We do complain, but the board likes to gamble. They win if the day gets to stay as a day off. If not, the bias of the system shows. Thus, the proper time to complain is ALWAYS, especially when the impact is imminent. |
I wish they would just call tomorrow off right now. Easier to move forward with plans when there is some certainty |
No, eid actually begins at sundown on 3/30. We celebrate it throughout the day on 3/31. |
What happened to code purple (virtual for snow days)? That should be an option moving forward if we use both snow days this week. Would rather that than making up days on June when everyone is checked out. |
They have to call that ahead of the storm, so it is too late. They would have had to call it Friday. |
Why is 1/29 too early? If we use 3 this snowstorm, 1/29 is perfect. |
I mean going forward for any future storms? |
That is not remotely on the table anyway. The state requires 180. |
As of 1:50pm the website has
"CODE RED - SCHOOL SYSTEM CLOSED - Tuesday, January 7, 2025" Yay for early decision about the obvious! |
They're not hourly employees. Salaried employees don't get overtime. And their workload overall wouldn't be changing. Yes, it might be a bit compressed to the extent they can't get ahead of it, but they wouldn't be working more hours. |
Agree…. Going forward go virtual. MCPS should be prepared for this option for future storms. |
