No..I haven’t seen much of them until this one.

I thought they stopped using Code Purple?

Technically they can still have virtual instruction once they've exhausted all of the designated makeup days. But they have not, and are very unlikely to, ever.

Yes - I expect our first snow day on Monday especially because of the timing of it (Sunday night into Monday). Definitely going to be road problems. The one thing that I hope is that Dr. Taylor follows through with his promises of more timely announcements. Here's to hoping it's announced officially Sunday night by 6 pm. But meanwhile, I'm already planning for snow and have adjusted my lessons/homework plans for the next few school days.

MCPS is terrible at timing when it comes to closings and delays. They always announce it at like 9-10 pm when my kids are about to go to bed.

If you want an announcement 12 + hours before school starts when the snow may not have started yet, please do not complain if the decision was wrong in hind sight.

Amen! If anyone posts they want Taylor to make the announcement Sunday evening by 6 PM, those people ARE NOT allowed to complain if Taylor announces the closure of school yet there is no snow because the storm missed us.

Because all the DCUM posters post in good faith and can easily be identified as having said or not said they wanted Taylor to make the announcement by 6pm?

How about you relax and ignore the whiners?

I’d like to know who has had explicit instructions about Code Purple. Please state your school.

Consider yourself forewarned. The forecast can definitely change a lot between now and Monday. But if it holds, we will definitely have a snow day Monday. IF all the side roads are cleared Monday, they will refreeze Tuesday and we will have a delay. If they’re still clearing, it’ll be closed Tuesday, too.

Yes, I know wherever you grew up in upstate NY or the Midwest clears snow better. Yes, I know it won’t be much in Bethesda and where the heck is Damascus and can we split into two zones? No, people do not know how to drive in winter weather here. Yes everyone will think MCPS called it too early and also too late and too conservatively.

Get your childcare arrangements sorted now. Order the snowsuits. Stock up on Swiss Miss. GL!

We haven't had a decent snow fall in a few years, so I am hoping that we actually get snow and can enjoy a snow day.

I assume no school on Tuesday too. It's not supposed to warm up to melt for another week, very cold next week!!!

That's because my husband has a snow blower for our long driveway. Not enough snow to use it since he acquired it.

Have you looked at the forecast tonight? It’s already changed. I don’t see snow storm potential in Kensington.

What weather app are you using? Wunderground shows 6-7 inches for Kensington right now.

So does Capital Weather Gang. Their forecast this morning shows the odds increasing, not decreasing - yes, even for down county.
