It is even clearer how true this is because I just rewatched several season one episodes. THe chemistry is totally different. The Duke is so handsome and that’s why it is so watchable but there is literally no other reason. Bailey gives an amazing performance and the chemistry is just off the charts in the second season. The difference is really stark. |
+1 Someone said Baily is gay, but I was attracted to him. I wasn't attracted to the Duke, and they had zero chemistry. |
Bailey himself has said he is gay. However, if you’ve seen him interviewed with Simone Ashley (Kate) you’ll see they have mad friend chemistry which typically translates very well on screen, as it did here. |
I recall watching the scene when the Duke delivers his “I burn for you” line and thinking, what? There was zero indication he felt that way. Every word by Anthony/Bailey is believable. Loved season 2. |
| Agreed! Bailey is sensational |
| I like Bailey, but come on. The “chemistry” with Kate felt very forced and was lacking for me. I didn’t buy it at all. Even their kissing scenes looked awkward. |
I thought the chemistry was great. Didn’t look awkward at all to me. |
Nope. They didn’t. Awkward is oral sex while leaning against a ladder almost fully clothed. Talk about forced and lacking. |
|
It’s interesting because I actually thought they had great chemistry and banter except for the first kissing scene. It just looked weird. Whereas, in S1 with Siena the opera singer, every scene they were in together was hot!
Bailey is a phenomenal actor. The flashback scenes really got me. |
I hated the way they just ran at each other when they started kissing, in two different scenes , instead of doing some slow seductive thing. But generally I think they had good chemistry |
| I loved the season but finished it last night and could not believe that was it! I feel like we were missing an episode. My only criticism is that the ending felt super rushed. |
Same, didn’t like how they collided but thought that might’ve been the direction or possibly the actress. |
+1 it just looked very awkward to me. Compared to Anthony and Sienna last season. |
I agree. I would have preferred more of their 'happy ending' vibes versus all the friggin Featherington stuff. Other than Penelope I can do without so much of them. |
| I managed to finish it but could have easily done without the last 3 episodes. There was nothing happening and Kate and Edwina were super boring. Even the Gilded Age was better. |
