who plays who in the first round? |
IAC championship (Banner) is based upon teams regular season record and the IAC post-season tournament. Landon and Bullis both have a 4 - 1 records and each earn a share of the IAC championship banner.
Post season begins Friday and that too will earn a championship. Many close games today and the entire season. Fun to watch. Landon #1 Seed Bullis #2 Seed Friday #6 Episcopal at #3 Prep Friday #5 SSSA at #4 St Albans |
IAC administrators are a joke. |
Interestingly Visi and Stone Ridge had a very tight game yesterday, with Visi winning 10-9. |
IAC runs their league very similarly to the Ivy league. Champions in each sport are determined by the regular season and some sports have a post season tournament to determine bids to the NCAA tournament.
You may not agree with this method, and you are entitled to your opinion but I am sure the IAC likens itself to the Ivy League. |
Once again Visi is not living up to its potential. This is not the first game they played this year that should have had a bigger spread. The issue with Visi teams used to be overly involved parents who were allowed to dictate to the coaches. I don't believe that is the problem now but don't know what is. Now, that said, SR is definitely a program that is trying to make a name for itself. SR hired a great coach away from Holy Cross last year and she is determined to make a name for SR in the lax community. There are some outstanding SR freshmen players but more generally SR has no where near the depth that Visi does. Very interesting... |
I don’t think there are any IAC administrators. The IAC consists of the ADs of the schools and their Presidents. |
SR also has some standout seniors -- two D1 commits (Stanford, Notre Dame) and at least one D3 commit (Denison). Some of the younger players were very strong yesterday too. |
Wow. Its amazing how much more impressive the girls who play lacrosse at our DC area private are than the boys... Most of the privates seem to have at least 1-2 girls committed per grade to top D1s schools for lacrosse. Makes me recall an excellent post up-thread about the high caliber of the girls lacrosse programs and the committs from our area. |

^^ men have fewer scholarships due to title 9. Football uses up so many scholarships (80)that the women's programs have to balance them out and there are far fewer men's programs than there would be without title 9. |
Always with the excuses guys. There aren't any more "scholarships" in women's lax than in men's - there are very little money in getting recruited for lax period. Its about getting recruited - getting into a top college, and being wanted at a top lax program. Boys from this area have no where near the success girls do. |
NP here, with no wish to put down either men's or women's lacrosse or any local program. I looked up the NCAA stats for lacrosse, and while it's true that the available scholarship equivalencies are about the same (12.6 for men and 12 for women), there are a lot more women's D1 programs than men's: 115 vs. 71 (Here's the link: http://www.scholarshipstats.com/lacrosse.html) That difference presumably is a direct result of T9, and does make it harder for men to get recruited. |
Case in point, Stanford - one of the schools noted for the two Division I Stone Ridge seniors - does not have a varsity men's lacrosse program. |
