Johnny Depp trial in Fairfax County

I liked him before I knew about all of this. I won't ever watch one of his movies again though. Seems like there are more people who came out the other way on this, who support him now more than ever.

He won't ever see my eyes again though ha ha it's funny but truly I won't spend a dime on his movies ever.

That's her story and she's sticking to it! It was all because of Depp's sway, despite a "mountain of evidence." SMH.

She’s right and I’m heartbroken for her. Depp was abusive and she had every right to write her op Ed and share her experience with an abuser. That she is imperfect as a victim doesn’t negate his abuse. It also doesn’t mean she defamed him. Sad day for women but this is the direction our country is headed in so not a total surprise. Soon you’ll be able to beat and terrify women with impunity.

Very bad decision today for women. Very bad. Even if she was exaggerating. He did not need to sue her. It was vindictiveness.
+1 sad day for women

Oh please.

This is a case where a woman who is desperate for fame saw the value of leveraging the me too movement for her own narcissistic goals. She too advantage of the “believe all women” stance to ruin a man for her own gain.

I have experienced SA myself and am disgusted by her.

She had proof. More than most. Regardless if you believe her, you do understand how this verdict will negatively impact victims? As a supposed survivor of SA, I’d think you’d have some empathy for them, but sounds like you want them to shut up and stay silent.

Most survivors aren’t photoshopping photos to try to make it look like she had injuries. Most aren’t claiming to have a broken nose and going on a TV show with no sign of injury. Putting herself out as a spokesperson for abused women offends me so, so much.

DP. I’ve had a broken nose that left me with nothing but the slightest hint of shadows under my eyes that were easily covered with concealer.

The next day? lol

I can barely get makeup to fully cover my acne scars. I’d really like to know what kind of makeup covers bruises from being punched in the face multiple times…. In HD no less.

According to Amber‘s lawyer, the kind that is released and produced after you allegedly use it

Oh FFS - she didn't say that specific makeup palette brand, she said A MAKEUP PALETTE and showed that one as an example. You psycho K---s will believe anything the internet tells you.

Wow I hope you aren’t this abusive to your family.

So is the ACLU going to pay the money she owes since they wrote the article and believe her to be telling the truth?

What's this obsession with Johnny "reciprocating", lol

DP. I do think it's odd that some people have devoted so many hours of their lives to watching the entire trial, making pirate ships to display outside the court (?!?), etc., out of some kind of hero worship for an actor. It would be one thing if he had publicly expressed that he appreciated and valued the fan support (although I would still think that level of investment was a bit extreme), but this is someone who has affirmatively stated that he dislikes his fans and thinks they are leeches. How does someone find that endearing?

I'm not a Johnny worshipper, although I've liked him since "21 Jump Street." Comments about fans being leeches have been uttered by many celebrities, and honestly, I find it understandable and it doesn't surprise me at all. Being famous can suck in a lot of ways. Anyone would find it frightening and draining. I believe that most celebrities DO appreciate fan support, after all it's their bread and butter, but they loathe creepy fanaticism. Most fans watch movies and TV shows. Other fans send scary messages and break into your house.

Yes, the next day. I was really grateful for the lack of bruising because it happening when my then-boyfriend accidentally elbowed me in the nose (a legit accident), and might after it happened I was afraid it would leave me terribly bruised and people would think my boyfriend was abusing me. I later had to have surgery to fix the deviated septum, but no noticeable bruising when it happened.

But since that doesn’t fit your preferred narrative, I’m sure you will accuse me of lying.

Getting elbowed accidentally and the ensuing injury is completely different from being punched in the face multiple times so hard that she thought he had broken her nose (according to her testimony).

Ah, so I had the wrong kind of injury because my broken nose was the result of an elbow. How about you give us a medical explanation of how a broken nose from an elbow (one severe enough to at it requires surgery to fix ) is different from a broken nose from a punch, such that one would cause bruising but the other could not cause bruising. I’ll wait.

One single blow from an elbow vs multiple punches (close fist). Assuming the same force was applied, pretty sure the multiple punches will inflict more damages. Also, the single blow only hits one area of the face while the multiple punches probably hit multiple areas (unless in his drunken stupor he was going for the exact same area) making her injuries more widespread on the face. If he really punched her in the face while drunk, i'm also surprised she hadn't lost any tooth

It’s just sad all the way around. People stopping their lives to watch and post about it like gawking at a car accident.

What if she is just a serial exaggerator, but not in necessarily a malicious way. What if he was slapping her in a way that wasn’t forceful enough to make a mark, or doing some kind of hit that wasn’t a full force Mike Tyson punch? I can believe he did something like that, however many times he did it, and she might characterize it like multiple punches. Does obnoxious touching in an as@&$le way, like a poking/slapping movement, qualify as abuse? What line do you have to draw to be believed as a receiver of abuse?

Well she testified under oath that he punched her multiple times so hard that she thought her nose was broken. Sounds more than a few slaps to me. And being a serial exaggerator doesn't excuse from her manipulating the truth under oath. I think her downfall was in the fact that the jurors couldn't trust her allegations of abuse since she was caught lying several times

2. Most in the Western world who are interested enough to follow have no strong opinion, other than both actors seem unnecessarily punitive and mentally unstable.

3. The minuscule minority who take more than a passing interest in this mostly agree that the result is fair, given the facts presented, because the facts pertain to defamation and not value judgements on either's character.

The rabid posters catastrophizing about Amber or Johnny are also unwell. You are wasting your life caring about two misfits, people! There are virtuous causes in the world that deserve your outrage, and this is not one of them

You're right. It was hard to look away though.
