I agree but what specific aspects can be changes that are realistic ? For me: Requiring domestic violence cases decided by jury to have at least half the jurors be female Requiring jurors to stay awake and provide notes at the end of each day to show they grasped basic content Restrictions on Character assassinations of women in rape and domestic violence cases Cases involving POC requiring jury to have at least half POC Probably many more and will need to think about it but those modest reforms could help quite a lot. |
I honestly don't think this is a necessity. Women are known to be more critical of other women. Men tend to feel bad and might be more reticent to give a verdict against females for fear of being labeled sexist. I think that's why AH's team was okay with that gender imbalance in the jury box. Her team might also be worried about women jurors succumbing to JD's charms. |
An unanimous verdict was required. Any of the female jurors could have made it a hung jury if they believed AH. Apparently the women who sat through the entire trial did not believe AH. Are you saying those female jurors were incapable of making an independent decision alone? |
Sad and pathetic how women are tearing down a victim of domestic violence for not being a perfect victim.
Plus, the selective process many of you go through! She admitted to hitting him. She is horrible! We believe that part. She said he raped her with a bottle, we don't believe that part, but we believe her that she hit him (back, she hit him back...but we don't believe she hit him back, she just hit him!) Narcists and his flying monkey, I love how you all are his flying monkeys! |

You all watched this video, where it is 100% clear that at the end of it he attacks her, but you trust him??? I have seen this same exact thing many times, between mom and dad. Was not mom beating the dad after the "really, really!" |
It is common sense that overall, one would expect women to have more empathy towards victims of rape and domestic violence and there are studies to that effect. Further jury selection should rule out anyone of either gender who buys into rape myths. Jury Selection in Adult Victim Sexual Assault (NIH study) Jurors’ Beliefs in Rape Myths Less favorable attitudes toward rape victims in general were significantly associated with: • Being male • Lower income • Political conservatism Gender Role Stereotypes Hostility toward women, subscribing to other oppressive belief systems, and being male are all strongly correlated to rape myth acceptance. (Gadalla, forthcoming, 2010) Gender is correlated with acceptance of rape myths. Men are more likely to be accepting of rape myths. https://www.doj.nh.gov/criminal/victim-assistance/documents/2-jury-selection.pdf ONS, 2020B) One study of 96 cases of domestic abuse recorded by the police found that men are significantly more likely to be repeat perpetrators and significantly more likely than women to use physical violence, threats, and harassment. Also male and female Domestic violence have different overall patterns although both are terrible. https://www.womensaid.org.uk/information-support/what-is-domestic-abuse/domestic-abuse-is-a-gendered-crime/ There are important differences between male violence against women and female violence against men, namely the amount, severity and impact. Women experience higher rates of repeated victimisation and are much more likely to be seriously hurt (Walby & Towers, 2017; Walby & Allen, 2004) or killed than male victims of domestic abuse (ONS, 2020A; ONS, 2020B). Further to that, women are more likely to experience higher levels of fear and are more likely to be subjected to coercive and controlling behaviours (Dobash & Dobash, 2004; Hester, 2013; Myhill, 2015; Myhill, 2017). |
Then you need to head on over to Off Topic and General Parenting and condemn every woman who posts about how to get out of jury duty because she can’t serve as a SAHM with no childcare. You can’t get to a 50% jury if there are not enough candidates. |
You really didn't watch the trial haha!! After really, really, Amber smirks as he walks away. She cut out the beginning and end for TMZ. The full video was shown in court. |
Regarding the story about JD punching Greg Brooks on set, GB was rudely harassing a homeless woman and being racist. JD went over to tell him you can't talk to people like that. I've read an affidavit that says GB was not punched or shoved by JD. They even hugged after and GB posted a pic on Facebook. The script supervisor has many time stamped photos of the incident. After the UK court case was filed, GB charged JD and deleted the photo. Talk about people coming out of the woodwork for their 15 minutes. It should be an interesting case coming up. https://twitter.com/An_elf_pirate/status/1516464749525012487 https://twitter.com/Alisha_ash/status/1531822611658776578 |
She’s not a victim. That’s 100% the point. She clearly made this up, using the pain of real victims of SV and DV (like myself btw) to raise her profile. She has done the damage. Period. I could not care less about Johnny Depp. But I’m pissed at a women who would make up abuse. |
Ha, ha, ha, ha. So he has not been violent his whole life? Been arrested? Demolished rooms, police called many times? Did not tell Letterman he gives it to all that deserve it? Oh, please! You pick and choose and propagate the patriarchy, one day your daughter might sadly be abused, or raped, and you will not trust her. I feel for your daughter, I hope you do not have one. |
You're talking about 2 different things now. |
Could someone please summarize why Amber Heard is so loathed? I cannot comb through this entire cesspool! |
Because she’s a woman who dared to speak up about being abused by a high-profile, popular man. |
