Biden's VP?

Biden isn't the brightest bulb out there , it's no coincidence why he was a thrice failed presidential candidate until 2008, when Obama made him vice president . And, he didn't win a primary until 2020 in South Carolina thanks to......African Americans.Quite frankly , if he wants to spend the rest of the summer justifying his choice of an unimpressive ex sorority Caucasian woman from Michigan, who's infinitely less qualified than the klobuchar and Warren and the minority women in contention so be it .

I earned $110,000 in bets during the Democratic by correctly predicting that Biden was going to end up clinching the nomination . I have had two separate bets for the general: A) if Biden picks a non minority ,trump gets reelected and I'll pocket $150k. B) if he picks a minority ,trump loses and I'll pocket $100k. Either way , I'm getting paid handsomely.

There's a dark cynicism in me that wants Biden to pick a white woman. I'm confident that on election night , trump's sparkly veneers will be what you'll be seeing.

This is why I don’t think itll be her. I bet itll be Rice or Whitmer

Either could explain the delay. Rice's professional record and finances would take a while to examine thoroughly, plus they'll have to prepare responses for all the coming attacks. If it's Whitmer, there will be a lot of discussions with Clyburn et al in order to manage disappointment among Black constituencies. Progressives will also be very unhappy with both.

The only way to manage a Whitmer announcement is to announce his cabinet as well, including several Black women. I still don't know that this would fly. Maybe it is a smoke screen as the prep a different choice under cover.

How odd - Whitmer is a bright, diverse, talented, retail politician. Why the double standard?

Idiotic identity politics. We've become a country of imbeciles.

I don't think requesting a seat at the table when you're the backbone of the party, and handed the guy the nom when he was all but out of the running, is remotely imbecilic.

The idea that Whitmer is a seat at the table is certainly imbecilic.

She is a seat at the table unless you are administering purity tests. Biden or Bernie - as long as they have phallus - nobody questions their right to be at the table. But the rush is on to call Whitmer a whore or dumb or fat or whatever. Disgusting.

Just curious:

Why is it so important for the veep choice to be a Black woman to Black people? Four years ago, we had a Black president for eight years. We have yet to have ANY woman be president or vice-president.

A black woman would still be a woman. Black women are the most marginalized in our community. Black women have literally saved the Democratic Party many times over. Obama wasn’t able to address a lot of black issues due to hatred in Congress. A Black woman in the White House with a Democratic Congress could get stuff done. Personally, I wouldn’t mind a Warren as VP candidate, but i would take issue with him selecting Whitmer over Harris or Rice.

Good to see some people are telling Biden what’s up. Guy is only where he is because of Obama and Clyburn.

Actually, Native American women are the most marginalized women in the country. My dream ticket was Harris/Whitmer. However, I am very troubled by the misogynistic and racist tropes being lobbed at Whitmer. I am further troubled by the suggestion that Whitmer would be discriminated against because of her skin color. I do not think it is debatable that she is more qualified than Bottoms, Bass, or Abrams. I think she is equally qualified to Harris. Rice is hard to assess because she has never held elected office, run for office, governed, etc. I would love to see her as CIA Director or SOS. Elizabeth Warren is very qualified but, like Bass, too old to be paired with Biden.

I do agree with this. I think its high time women (and everyone else too) voted for the most experienced and capable leader. There is no point pandering to the white/women/suburban swing voters in the Midwest. Why can't those women think broader and vote for the more qualified black woman? Makes no sense nominating the lowest common denominator.

I love how you have discounted everyone else and came up with Whitmer. Let's call it what it is. You cannot bear to see a black woman become President before a white woman. I hope Biden picks Whitmer and loses.

Not sure if you all saw this that even in Michigan ...Democrats are telling Biden not to pick Whitmer

Um, ELIZABETH WARREN is as qualified as any of the black candidates.

No, ma’am. I would be happy with Harris. I wanted get it at the top of the ticket. What I do not like is the misogyny and racist BS being shoved at Whitmer or the suggestion that she is not qualified because she is white or went to a state school or was raped in a sorority house, or is fat, etc. I will call you out on your use of these sexist and racist tropes - that’s what it is. I called Buttigieg unqualified - and Bottoms is similarly unqualified. Abrams didn’t win - I campaigned for her, and gave her money. She lost. Whitmer won and has governed better than Cuomo.
