^^also both Whitmer and Harris were children of divorce, who knows how that affected them in their teens.

I was today years old when I found out I’m unimpressive because I graduated from Michigan State.

Well you knew you didn't attend Ivy League schools, how "impressive" is judged on DCUM, but who cares?

Won't it be a bit of a letdown if they've strung it out and then it ends up being Kamala Harris after all? They could have named her long ago and gotten to work on campaigning.

This is why I don’t think itll be her. I bet itll be Rice or Whitmer

Maxine Waters saying that it's down to Rice or Harris.

She's just quoting what's been reported, has no inside intel.

Either could explain the delay. Rice's professional record and finances would take a while to examine thoroughly, plus they'll have to prepare responses for all the coming attacks. If it's Whitmer, there will be a lot of discussions with Clyburn et al in order to manage disappointment among Black constituencies. Progressives will also be very unhappy with both.

The only way to manage a Whitmer announcement is to announce his cabinet as well, including several Black women. I still don't know that this would fly. Maybe it is a smoke screen as the prep a different choice under cover.

Honestly, we need to reclaim the progressive label for liberalism - and a rejection of illiberalism. If “progressives” cannot get behind diverse and progress-oriented candidates like Whitmer and Rice because they fail some arbitrary purity test - they are not progressives. They maybe socialists, or leftists, or anarchists - but they are not liberals - and they are not progressives in any sense.

How odd - Whitmer is a bright, diverse, talented, retail politician. Why the double standard?

Idiotic identity politics. We've become a country of imbeciles.

I don't think requesting a seat at the table when you're the backbone of the party, and handed the guy the nom when he was all but out of the running, is remotely imbecilic.

Sure, because in your deluded mind, identity politics is a new phenomenon.
