Millionaire, top insurance executive in the state != middle class She was a rich sorority girl at a state school. You know the type, the conceited fake nice binge drinkers who somehow end up successful without any hard work... because life always works out for the rich and connected. Just as life tends to work out for a slacker with two PhD parents who worked at two of the most powerful R1s in the world. |
She ran to the State legislature soon after finishing law school. I'm guessing she was always interested in public service. But, a quick trip to Wikipedia provides a super simple answer. Her parents divorced when she was 10. Her dad stayed in Detroit while her mom took the kids to Grand Rapids. Lansing = Grand Rapids. Ann Arbor = Detroit. Hmmm |
I’m not sure what right-wing blog you are reading for your information. Her dad was a civil servant under Governor Milliken. He then went into private practice and started at BCBG after she had graduated college. He was not a millionaire during her childhood. She was raised by her single mother - a prosecutor. We get that you have some deep incel feelings about Whitmer (and likely all women), but lying outright is messy AF. You should be ashamed of yourself. |
Breaking News:
More than 100 Black male leaders sign letter demanding Joe Biden pick Black woman as VP. “Failing to select a Black woman ... means YOU WILL lose the election ... Black women are defining the future of politics so it's time you let one define the future of your campaign.” |
Well that isn't true. If Whitmer is Biden's VP, the governor is going to be Garlin Gilchrist, a Umich grad. |
Can people PLEASE stop arguing over where candidates went to school. Literally noone cares besides UMC liberals that are going to vote Democrat anyways. Lets focus on records. |
Most of the swing states that are so important in this election - Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio, Florida are all very proud of their state schools. Most of the voters in these states went to their state schools. An MSU grad is respected not looked down upon. All of these states except Florida are part of the big 10. That conference is highly respected for not just sports but academics and research. Big 10 grads will decide this election. Whitmer went to a good school. Good for her. |
+1 |
I wish Biden would name his VP already. Frankly - and I'm voting for Biden no matter what - his campaign needs the momentum that a VP could bring.
I'm worried that Trump and the GOP are gaining an edge even in this current Covid sh*t-show as they continue to beat the "dopey Joe" drum. I'm also annoyed for all the drama surrounding his pick. It's obnoxious and I worry all the build up only serves to underwhelm once the VP is announced. Pick a VP already, Joe!!!! |
It’s also making him look indecisive, or signals infighting within the campaign. I wish he’d just pick Harris or Whitmer and be done with it. I think Rice is too risky. |
So no announcement today? |
No, a PP mentioned it was unlikely due to the orange one's scheduled press conference. So another day or two. |
My pet theory is that it's a bunch of losers who got scared off of Auto-Admit after Tucker Carlson's lead writer got caught. The various recent threads with weird status-mongering about schools are all consistent with this pattern. |
Yes! It's all making sense: incels attack! |
Who knows whether Whitmer even had much of a relationship with her dad after the divorce. The theory that she attended MSU to stay closer to her mom makes sense. Regardless, even if Whitmer and Harris don't have sterling academic credentials like Rice, there is nothing embarrassing about them. Maybe they were immature and unfocused teenagers who were late bloomers and found their calling a little later. In fact I think it's even more impressive that they've become so accomplished without that advantage, just like Warren who despite also attending modest schools, became an Ivy League professor. The vast majority of Americans will not gaf. |
