Bill and Melinda Gates Announce Divorce After 27 Years

Anonymous
Bill is a bad father for only leaving $10 millions to each of his kids.

When he announced it years early, he got praised for it. Now he's a bad guy. LOL

Anyone notice that every news article, etc. is referring to her as "Melinda French Gates" now?

I wonder if she plans to drop "Gates" after the divorce.

Super sleazy of him to be meeting with Epstein. Ick.

Bill's been a naughty boy, apparently...

I never fell for his phony "do what I say on climate, etc etc". He doesn't have his own family life together and he's trying to tell other people what to do. Typical.

Yes, amazing that he is not perfect. Aren't all rich people supposed to be?

I'm in the IT business and I know people how worked with Bill years ago when he was still running the show at Microsoft. He's a brilliant guy -- grasps concepts immediately, and will deep dive into all manner of topics that interest him. He's also got the personality similar to some truly genius people I"ve worked with -- a bit rough around the edges socially, but not the predator type at all -- too timid for that. Even this latest NYT article is not really a bombshell. He's not forcing himself on anyone or anytying like that. He asked out two women, one over email, and never laid a hand on them. Inappropriate given his position of power, and slightly socially awkward, but not some rabid predator.

This makes sense.

Plus it must be very hard to stay grounded when that rich and famous.

Is Warren Buffet the only zillionaire who kept his act together with his family to the end?

I think you're glossing over a lot. He actually had an affair with someone at Microsoft when she worked there and there are more stories than just 2 women. I'm not sure I was ready to believe any of this until there were enough stories about this and also the fact that he had a confirmed affair + he met with Epstein. This isn't 1 or 2 annoying facts about how he screwed over IBM when starting etc. I was where you are in your thinking until all of these stories started to come out.

Oh no. There is a bunch of stuff on Buffet and his wife and girlfriend. He basically has a second wife but didn’t divorce the first.

It’s just so difficult to find smart people who haven’t been convicted of sex crimes! Nobody wants to hang with Bill Gates, right?

Gates may have visited Epstein, the person said, because Gates “enjoys talking and ideas and basically arguing with people, and he can be a really brutal person to argue with.”

“He likes nothing better than to get together and debate or lecture people, or tell everyone what he’s doing with the polio vaccine. He has an ability, unlike any other person I’ve ever met, to lecture to a table of people without stopping for an hour.

Yeah more like Buffet was more discrete about his indiscretions, which were tolerated by his wife ... Buffet and Gates have been besties for years ...

They had a good run for a long time and great they will continue their philanthropic work. The world needs their foundation’s work, married or not. Hope they can remain friends after the divorce.

oh for the love of god
You can be brilliant and correct and also be a total asshole
I'd say its been more the rule vs. the exception to the rule even for all of modern, western history since its been patriarchal AF.

His book on climate is brilliant BTW and quite the opposite of what you are asserting, that consumer driven onus and behavior is a straw man and not the answer to substantial climate shift.

Some of the comments on this thread show how young the commenters are: it was a well known fact Bill Gates was a giant Ass. He had a horrible reputation. Melinda rehabbed his image big time and he's worked hard to change the impression the world had of him.

He's far from perfect -- he is a genius though!

Nothing he's done is egregious, there's plenty of people who've done worse.

So not a "young" poster by any means. Bill Gates is a genius and he has done some good things.

What these stories tell us is that where women's issues are concerned, it's easy to agree with women's issues until you have to make the hard decisions. Even if nothing happened with Epstein (at this point who knows), it's really appalling to think that he was OK meeting with Epstein as long as he could get something out of him. I guess everything goes as long as you meet your goals. /s

Might have been brought up... but some report that she might try to change the inheritance that is meant for their three kids. 10 million each and the est to charity. I say, good for her. If I was the richest person on earth... or ok close to it, I could not imagine shafting my kids that much. Not when it really is not that big of a deal to leave them much more!
And it sounds like their dad is...a pervert that might not have done something illegal or a pervert that has likely done something that he should end up in jail for.
And we know what happens to some perverts in prison! If he is that kind of pervert, I hope that's where he ends up. In a prison, and all that comes right after.

Hello No. For years, they were boasting themselves as a great couple by donating $36 billions to charity and making us feel bad.

Now, it's payback time.

I have no doubt that the evil misogynist and a racist from Meghan and Harry thread is the same one that called Melinda a derogative name.
I wish Jeff would have immediate delete when anyone uses slurs for women, different races, and well all slurs are unacceptable.
