so is Madison the one?
And anyone else annoyed that kevin makes sophie's mom's death all about the night his father died? |
Looks that way. I’m not a big fan of hers. I don’t have a problem with Kevin flashing back to his dad’s death. It was the pivotal moment in his young life. I wonder how devastating Kate’s story will be next week. |
Hope not. She's a hot mess. Sophie will dump fiance' (there's a reason they're not married yet) and marry Kevin. |
I think Madison’s a red herring. Kevin is heading right back to near where Sophie is, his speech at the grave was all about how he’s ready for her, and Sophie’s comparing her “earned love” ring to the one Grant gave her? It will be Sophie. He couldn’t get out of Madison’s bed fast enough, and in the flash forward Kevin hadn’t just knocked someone up, she was his fiancé. |
| That photo of Kevin that Sophie's mom kept...that was awesome. |
| Sophie deserves better. Kevin has put her through hell. Twice. |
No, because she called him explaining that her fiance was great with logistics but had two living parents so didn't get the emotional side. |
Good point |
PP you responded to. Thanks for the info on dementia. Just to be clear for everyone, though, that there are two different flash forwards-- one about year from now and another more like 10 years forward. You can tell by Rebecca's hair. In the cabin after her confusion running errands, her hair is in the current bob. In the far future, she has long white hair. |
I disagree. He said himself that he wasn't ready to be a good partner before, but he was now. He's come such a long way. His second failed attempt with her was really just final rock bottom of his whole life's struggle. He's so much better now, and has dealt with his issues in a really honest way. He's found peace with his mom and her favoritism toward Randall and peace with his dad's death by going to Vietnam and building a relationship with Nicky. His healing wasn't just a rehab quickie but quite a journey of discovery and hard work. I, too, think Madison was just a red herring. This show loves to do stuff like that. I'm looking forward to next episode. I like when they take three episodes, each devoted to the same period of time seen through the experience of each triplet. I watched the promo for next week, and it shows Kate abandoned on the side of a road in rural wooded area like surrounds their cabin. Before the promo, I was expecting him to hit her or something, so being left on the road would be less dramatic than I thought. |
No, it was it way to comfort her about the specific way she said she was grieving-- not being able to ever go back to that coffee place that meant so much to her and her mother. The reason she called him in the first place was because her fiancé was unable to help her emotionally. Kevin knew just what she needed, because he's been there and because he just gets her. |

I was aghast when Kevin placed that old publicity photo on Sophie's mom's grave. I actually looked at DH and said, WTF - this is more cringe-worthy than John Legend! I was relieved when he admitted leaving it was stupid and went back to retrieve it.
I don't think he ends up with Madison. Sophie's discovery and contemplation of the ring clinched it for me. She's just trying to do the right thing right now vis a vie her fiancé. |
| I can’t remember why kevin and sophie failed the second time! Was it his drinking? |
It was pills. He was high when she had that award ceremony or some other big event. He cleaned up for a while, then started drinking when he was with Zoe and was drunk when Kate was delivering Jack. |
You can tell Sophie wants him as much as he wants her. They'll end up together. Her mother's motto of "Never Settle" foreshadows it. |
