That’s fine and that’s your prerogative. Some agree with you. Some liked the arrogance. Some think they should have stopped scoring at 9 (is that the acceptable threshold or something). Some are only focusing on the performance itself. Some noticed that they were very sympathetic to the Thai players after the final whistle, which kind of puts a damper on the classless bit. The one thing that is indisputable is that they set a World Cup record and are the clear front runners, and hopefully this motivates the other national teams so we can have an exciting tournament. This is futbol. People will like them when they win. Tim Howard and others made awful ignorant comments about dual nationals a few years back. People still idolized him. They’re professional athletes not perfect role models. |
What? The rule was pretty much chucked in the bin. Entire teams are pretty much doing coordinated flash mob celebrations now... |
Which of Morgan's celebrations was over the top? The one where she tied the most goals scored by an individual in a World Cup game? That's kind of a big deal. Rapinoe's was one I could see people muttering about. But even with that, I've seen plenty of other celebrations similar, although the ones I'm thinking of are men. And people aren't just muttering about Rapinoe, they're criticizing the entire team for excessive celebration. And yes, Morgan and Rapinoe have been there/done that so generally speaking I am less forgiving of Rapinoe celebrations than Pugh celebrations. But again, goal scorers celebrate. Effusively. And not only in "important" or "well-matched" games. Just like men flop in soccer like it's going out of style. |
Then I'm out of the loop. I haven't seen anything like the end zone shuffle going on. But it's also fair that I haven't been following (american) football for 5 or so years, so my info is dated. |
| It was Rapinoe’s only goal of the game. Why shouldn’t she celebrate? And why should anyone determine what constitutes an acceptable celebration? Aubameyang pulls masks out of his crotch. |
And she acted like she scored the only goal of the game. |
| Karma. If Chile goes down by a couple goals early, do you think they're going to play nice |
| I respect everyone’s opinion on this matter, however at some point the celebrations need to be reasonable. The score is the score, shoot score 20 for all I care. It is a touch subject, have some humility. That is just me.... |
You do you. Celebrating goals isn’t unreasonable to me. It’s not like they were taunting the other team. |
Agree. OP is classy, you are less so. To each his own. |
Yep. And you do you. And then somebody does high cleat to the knee or thigh. And we all agree that we do we. |
Huh? Is karma American? |
They lost me when they started rambling on with their feminist rhetoric. They want to be paid as much as the men, which is a joke because women are inferior athletes. And then they blame their inferior athleticism on lack of investment in womens soccer
|
I am a guy, but these girls are getting raw deal from the USSF and have a legitimate gripe. They made more money for the USSF than the men did, but are paid significantly less. And, unlike the USMNT, they made the WC and are getting criticized for scoring too much and celebrating too much. I will take it over getting beat by mediocre teams, like Jamaica, Venezuela and Trinidad. |
Well we don't want women getting too big for their breeches amiright?! |
