This...this is the hill you'll die on? I should mention she's very uneducated.

It’s emblematic of something bigger…including things like an outright dismissal of legitimate concerns coupled with an elitist judgment of their lack of education.

I mean, we just lost…to a really unqualified and dangerous person…and the knee jerk reaction is that more than half the country is stupid and we are smarter…really? If we were smarter, we would have won. We would have had better messaging that acknowledged all the concerns raised by voters over the last few years.

I can’t imagine any sane parent of daughters thinking Trump is the better option here. Explain it to me like I’m 5.

I’m a Dem who detests Trump but understands why he won.

It’s everything. A lot of issues and aggravating sound bites from the Left on myriad things. It isn’t just transpeople in the locker room, so don’t fixate on that reason.

Like another poster said, this is really an indictment of the far left that somehow took up way too much time and space in Dem politics. We need Dems to have a Sister Souljah moment and call out the crazy.

They don't get it and cater to the far left more and more every election.

“F all of you, and vote for democrats!”

I just don’t know why democrats lost last night.

They will only hurt themselves. As the proverb goes:

“The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them.”

Democrats love of victim blaming got them here. Sad to see DCUM is still a redoubt of slow learners!

Because her first decision, to select Walz as VP, showed her lack of conviction and judgment.

Because she's been around politics a long time and a lot of people who know her can't stand her.

Because the Dem party as a whole has been driven off the cliff with wokeness, DEI, trans issues and other abominations.

Because the American people really do care about their country and, when pushed, will fight back.

Because the media cheerleading was so obvious as to turn people against her/ them.

Because Joe and Jill stabbed her and the Obamas in the back as their parting gift.

Anything to add to this list?

+1 million. Though to be fair I think the Republicans have the same attitude towards people who don't like them. They just have no reason to say it today.

Queer online communities came up with that. And immigrants overall are more conservative. Of course it wouldn't stick with them.

Totally false. Queer never had anything to do with it. It was invented as shorthand rather than typing out things like "latinos and latinas"

yep. The "the other side is stupid" thing is really key here.

I was called "STUPID" by another poster on this site last night for questioning abortion. The poster could have said, "oh, yes, abortion is a complex issue." Instead they said "you are incredibly STUPID to believe that." It made me bristle, i could feel my blood pressure rise just reading it. Had I been in the ballot box at that moment I may have said a giant "f-you" to the left based on that one comment.

It feels horrible to be called stupid or to be implied to be stupid. It makes people angry.

Until elite democrats learn this they will never get the votes outside of their own ranks.

Whelp, canning Biden and shoving Harris in quickly didn’t work out. Next!

He really wanted to win a second term knowing he isn’t running the country or competent enough to do so. And people say Trump is the one with the blood lust for power. Trump would never mistreat Vance the way he has Kamala. Trump obviously was thinking about the future and his legacy by choosing someone as young as Vance and someone as smart/Ivy League educated like Vance. Bidens ego is so fragile that he couldn’t dare pick a VP that was smarter and more viable than he was

Yep. Harris did the best she could in the circumstances. Dems were backed into a corner this summer.

Exactly, you can't call people uneducated, you can't tell them the economy is great when groceries are niticibly more expensive, you can't serve up platitudes when they see people crossing the border illegally and then being put up in hotels on the taxpayer dime, with their kids coming to already struggling schools, you can't put the rights of a very small number if people (or any group) above everyone else's rights.

You can't treat them like idiots (even if you think that's what they are) and expect them to vote for you.

And then Harris can't even go across town to thank all her supporters?

Very disappointing (but not totally surprising) that people who think they are so smart got it so wrong.

Mass media did its best to whip up support and hype for Harris. The. She had nothing

Nah. Republicans made it look like it took up too much time and space.

I would agree that the Dems didn't need to acquiesce so much to the loud obnoxious vocal minority of wacky progressives in their midst. But by the same token I am quite angry that the entire country is now going to be collectively punished by the administration of a hateful senile guy with horrible policies and a gutless GOP that will go along with it.
