Christine was the nicest and most generous person I have ever met, and I am deeply sad and shocked with this tragedy.

This is exactly what I thought about the husband. Not everyone plasters their face all over social media. Some have reasons for that.

He plastered himself and his dog. That's the weird part. Why have a presence at all if he's the one with the sensitive job?

Maybe so no one would target his family.

Sometimes you "need" Facebook/social media to keep up with kid's activities. Over the years my kids have been involved in clubs/sports that communicate to parents through social media exclusively. If I wasn't on social media and in these groups/pages I'd have no idea when practice schedules change (sometimes with only an hours notice!) game information, etc.
It's annoying and I hate it, but if I want my kid to participate, I have to join the social media group.
Maybe it was the same with his daughter's sport/activity.

Is that why he had a gun in the house?

yes, he would have a gun as part of his job

He worked for the IRS. A bean counter with a gun?

An IRS Special Agent does carry a gun.

Still struggling to understand what type of tax enforcement requires a gun

My brother works for IRS and while he doesn’t carry a gun, he has been threatened and had to have protection from the Marshalls office. It was a case involving one of those the US doesn’t exist, I don’t have to pay taxes type or protester

People, my God. Do you even live in America? Guns are legal. Open carry is legal in Virginia. You can get a concealed carry permit in Virginia. It's perfectly legal to have a gun in your house. The presence of a gun is perhaps the most straightforward thing about this incident.

She’s 4.

Perhaps he joined Facebook years ago and no longer finds it relevant to his life now or finds it as interesting as others do. Basing anything on a Facebook profile is ridiculous.

Sad but true.

How is that responsive to the comment you are quoting?

This case in which 2 people died has nothing to do with hiking in CA, holiday cards or a described FBI agent having one or more guns in his home/on his person, legal in the state of VA.

Holy hell!

It has happened, could be similar.

That he has not been exonerated nor charged yet suggests to me it was planned not spur of the moment and that there was a degree of cleaning and framing of the narrative, perhaps.

Joe seemed very open about his "social life" and told people where he would be, perhaps who he would be with. Lots more to come out. It seems less likely that he would kill based on descriptions of people who have known him locally for many years and no real motive. DH killing DW, now that is common. If having an affair, would be even more common. Sad but true.

Case also has nothing to do with FB. Fetlife, maybe.

Odds re: a stabbed wife would be DH. JR would be the set up to shift guilt. Sadly, all too many men having affairs kill their wives and try to create a story.

Unlike the couple, JR is from this area and his many longtime friends say he would never harm a woman never mind stab one to death. No history of violence ever.

Did DH have a motive for wanting DW off the scene? Again, he has not been cleared by LE and it has been a month.

I mean lots of people who people swear would never hurt anyone end up hurting someone. You don't really know anyone.

The investigation is taking a long time. Are they hitting a stone wall?

I would think about the info they have. They have phone records, online records, neighborhood video of the coming and going of all of their cars that day. I will make something up and adding up with the original story, or that would have been easy to prove.
