The DOJ didnt start handling it (eg, searching for more documents) until this weekend. They have had months. So, public knowledge is what led to the documents being secured and protected.

Source that the DOJ did no investigation before this weekend? I am fairly certain that is incorrect.

Upon looking through a timeline, it appears that the DOJ actually never did a search and instead relied on Biden's personal attorneys, who are not cleared, to conduct the searches. So it's worse than I initially understood. They appear to be just waiting for whatever Biden's counsel feeds them.

That does not mean there was no investigation of the documents found earlier, or that the investigation wasn’t ongoing.

I dont think Biden was set up. As in, I think he took the documents, either by accident or on purpose. But, the way this information has been released, document and location, with 4 different announcements, seems designed to inflict maximum harm.
