Ah. So that was the play.

Faux outrage as an excuse to kick out the principal.

I think that's the whole point of these made-up non-issues. Sure, they gave out notices a week or two after the school received them. I don't see that as a problem really but trying to paint it as one is just a way to try and create this fake outrage about the principal largely because these parents are angry they can't game admissions like they used to.

+1. What a ridiculous molehill. So. Much. Drama.

The colleges SAW the applicants' SAT scores. The colleges were well aware that those SAT scores were very high. The label placed on the score (commended) doesn't add anything more important than the score itself...which the colleges had!

This isn't about facts, just drumming up fake outrage to try and oust the principal as payback for having stopped admissions cheating.

National Merit semi finalists and commended are not based on SAT scores. So it doesn't matter that the colleges "SAW" the SAT scores.

They are based on PSAT scores.

So many posters on here really need to stop posting because they have no idea what they are talking about.

That’s true, but the PSAT is a watered-down version of the SAT. If you have an SAT score on file, it’s generally safe to assume that you did similarly well on the PSAT — you don’t need a “Commended” label to back that up.

I don’t think these excuses are going to get the two TJ administrators off the hook.

There are other posters here that say they are college admissions officers, and that having BOTH scores (PSAT and SAT) high, shows consistency.

Because if anything will force a school principal to resign it’s an online petition!

The 'Commended' label makes students eligible to apply for over 800 different scholarships from corporations and universities. It means MONEY!!!

OMG, OMG, and the principal sat on the notices for a week or so! Most college apps aren't due until March.6 Not sure why this is a problem. I think these posters need to find a new hobby.

March 6? Most students know where they're going by March 6. ED applications are typically due by November 1. People are chiming in who don't know what they're talking about.

Just don't look at how rural governors schools operate. If you think TJ admission lacks merit now, what happens if FCPS decides to emulate Shenandoah Valley or SWVA?

All part of the GOP/Youngkin’s plan to destroy public schools.

They want TJ to fail.

Exactly Youngkin and the GOP want to suck the public tax money from the schools and give them to private religious schools. That's what's coming and TJ is going away.

Imagine thinking charter schools are all religious. Think before you speak.

I'm pretty sure that poster is just trying to get people riled up. March 6? That's a pretty random date.

FCPS is holding a TJ townhall on January 3rd with Dr Reid now to discuss the issue.

Good for Dr Reid, but did Dr Bonitatibus’ email rub anyone else the wrong way? There was no apology or acknowledgment that this was an unfortunate situation.

Another vote for Dr Bonitatibus has to go…
