She is black so doubly good! No way the wokies can attack her.

Someone fill me in: I’m aware of this year’s incident, but what happened in previous years? From what I know and have read, the letters were delivered on time both last year and the year before.

My understanding is that those awards were withheld for 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Just don't look at how rural governors schools operate. If you think TJ admission lacks merit now, what happens if FCPS decides to emulate Shenandoah Valley or SWVA?

All part of the GOP/Youngkin’s plan to destroy public schools.

They want TJ to fail.

Exactly Youngkin and the GOP want to suck the public tax money from the schools and give them to private religious schools. That's what's coming and TJ is going away.

Imagine thinking charter schools are all religious. Think before you speak.

PP didn’t say anything about charter schools. Learn how to read.

So they were just lying or being extremely disingenuous. No one who is for school choice is interested solely in private religious schools. Thank you for clarifying that.

Yes, this is all some fake outrage over nothing.

Let’s say it has nothing to do with college admissions. It’s a certificate or award that the school was told to distribute immediately as it was the only way students would know- and they didn’t. College admissions, not being a merit scholar, kids finding out other ways, etc - all irrelevant. What is relevant is the school not timely informing students of something that takes minimal effort to do so.
It is not the only way a student would know. They already know their PSAT score and the cutoff is public knowledge and widely distributed on the internet. It isn’t hard.

Can you imagine the posts here if TJ students just assumed they were commended and put it on their applications without having proof and confirmation? There would be accusations of privilege and how dare they and all the usual vitriol.

When every article has quotes from the same anti-FCPS gang that have been screaming and yelling for 2 years, it is clear this is manufactured outrage. Sounds like a mistake was made and the school took steps to apologize and mitigate it.

I wish the Post, at least, would stop interviewing these folks and calling them "FCPS parents" without acknowledging that most are running for SB or part of nationwide conservative astroturf groups. I know the Fairfax Times, Nick Minock and the NYPost and Daily Mail won't try to be show the whole story but the Post should (unfortunately their school coverage is always extremely thin).

I always thought that was about clawing back the taxes used to educate the middle class. That's why vouchers are so popular with the right. The focus on evangelical schools is part of it but hardly the end game.

No doubt the same people who favored the rigged admission system for those who could afford to buy the test.

When the "mistake" falls right in line with their stated mission/goals, it is clear this was intentional.

The PSAT scores are not in the same format as the NMSF cutoffs. Sure, you can look up how to do this, but it's not as obvious as the SAT or ACT scores.
my Commended non- TJ students figured it out quite quickly,

Yup. Vouchers to subsidize kids already in private schools. And destroy public schools to dumb down the populace.

The only way the GOP can win elections is if they round up enough idiots. It’s the long game.

The "awards" were "withheld" or the letters officially notifying the kids about an commendation (not an award) they already knew about were a little late?

Those are two different things. Which one happened in any of those years?

"An commendation?"
