TJ Failure to Notify Letter of Commendation Winners

My understanding is that those awards were withheld for 2020, 2021 and 2022.

That’s funny, DC graduated from TJ in 2022 and all the awards were given out on time that year. WaPo is reporting that FCPS records show 2021 letters being sent out in September as well.

Just don't look at how rural governors schools operate. If you think TJ admission lacks merit now, what happens if FCPS decides to emulate Shenandoah Valley or SWVA?

All part of the GOP/Youngkin’s plan to destroy public schools.

They want TJ to fail.

Exactly Youngkin and the GOP want to suck the public tax money from the schools and give them to private religious schools. That's what's coming and TJ is going away.

Imagine thinking charter schools are all religious. Think before you speak.

PP didn’t say anything about charter schools. Learn how to read.

So they were just lying or being extremely disingenuous. No one who is for school choice is interested solely in private religious schools. Thank you for clarifying that.

No. They were talking about vouchers. Duh.

Then they wouldn’t have pretended vouchers would only go towards religious schools. Unless, of course, they were trying to fear monger and lie.

I wish the Post, at least, would stop interviewing these folks and calling them "FCPS parents" without acknowledging that most are running for SB or part of nationwide conservative astroturf groups. I know the Fairfax Times, Nick Minock and the NYPost and Daily Mail won't try to be show the whole story but the Post should (unfortunately their school coverage is always extremely thin).

The claim is that the awards were withheld because the principal didn't want other kids to feel left out; that the principal said so.

PP didn’t say give it ”only” to religious schools. You really have a kid at TJ?

The GOP has been pushing for vouchers to subsidize religious education. This is nothing new here. Try to find a better news source.

I would be fine to associate organizations with hampton, rigby and other very vocal people along with the right wing activists. Even better would be to actually find some normal “FCPS parents” who don’t have an agenda to interview for articles.

It's true their throwing their zealous minions a bone but their actual agenda is to get rid of spending taxes on anything for the common good. They only care about he wealthy.

Well, there is no equivalency between these wings anymore. The left is mostly corporate shills who aren't insane, whereas the right is completely bonkers. We've gone so far to the right that people are clueless now. Seriously, the last liberal President in the US was probably Nixon who advocated for national health care and started the EPA. I guess Reagan gave out amnesty to the illegals so there was that.

This anti-TJ at all costs crowd is just looking for an excuse to burn TJ down.

What a shame.

No system is perfect, but to rail against the #1 HS in the country like this?

Let the administrators alone, so that they have the time and energy to focus on the students…

I don't really get what they're all upset about. So some notices went out a week late. Not sure what the problem is here.

It's crazy that parents of TJ students are trying to destroy the school. It's almost like they're taking revenge because their kids weren't the TJ star students they thought they would be.

Or Asra and her buddies are just addicted to the attention.

This is such a non-issue.

Do you have a child at TJ?

+1

It’s disgusting how they continue to use these kids for their own political motives. Truly vile.

Not the PP- but posted the text quoted.

My child is a junior at TJ and I totally dont appreciate this distraction.

My DC and his friends all have had a great experience at TJ. The staff goes over and above to support the kids.

What they dont have time for is to deal with these BS distractions.
