Again (and again), no charges have yet been filed. But looking at what has been described -
1) The Toyota was making a left and yielded to the pedestrians crossing who have the right of way.
2) In stopping to let the pedestrians cross, the Toyota may have blocked oncoming traffic.
3) Only the BMW hit the Toyota, so there did not seem to be any other oncoming traffic that was impacted.
4) If the BMW was speeding, the Toyota likely started the turn while the intersection/road was clear.
5) If the BMW was speeding, the driver loses the ability to claim the Toyota caused the accident as per Virginia law.

I'm having a hard time imagining that no one else here has ever been in a similar situation - you start making a left turn while the opposing traffic is clear, and then need to yield to crossing pedestrians that have the right of way. Heck, it happens to me when I'm turning into my driveway! Anyway, the charges should tell the story.

You don’t make the turn until it’s clear.

There can be multiple errors.

I'm sure it was clear. At 90 mph, it becomes unclear real fast. That's why there are speeding laws in the first place.

90mph?

Pull that out if your a$$?

If the BMW was speeding, none of your whatabouting matters. VA law is clear that speeding negates your right away. As has been explained here multiple times.

Great. I’ll go pull out in front of speeding cars. Not my fault.

Hey physics master, the Toyota probably pulled out before the BMW was even visible. That’s how fast the BMW was going! There’s a blind spot over the hill on Blake.

So I can cause as many accidents as I want and I won’t be held accountable as long as the other car is speeding.

Cool.

Is PP trying to shade the nationality of the BMW driver/passengers?

The Toyota seems to have been hit hard in its front left corner. That doesn't make sense.

Sure. If you lose, you can’t post on DCUM anymore.

Calm down the truth will come out later today or early next week. Eyewitness accounts on several news stations have indicated they’ve never seen a car going that fast on the toad before.

Fine by me. I'd rather post on an alternative Fairfax site anyway.

Is it possible he tried to turn away out of the lane once he realized the BMW wasn’t stopping?

Part way into the turn when it stopped for people in crosswalk. So at an angle when the BMW hit the front left corner.

Let's not be judgmental here. Investigators will find all the facts. The BMW driver is a 18 year old kid. A horrible unintended event followed the crash....2 innocent girls died. Tragic situation...no winners here...

The family and friends of the reckless bmw driver are not doing him any favors by posting these ridiculous defenses of him and attacks on others here. No one is buying it.
Anonymous
No matter what is the outcome, TOYOTA driver should have waited for proper signal OR clean road. He has a big hand in this accident.
