| We are coming from public school and are trying to figure out the climate. I was very active at sons public school. How is the parent community? We are not wealthy. We have grandparents paying for tuition Will we feel out of place? We have HHI of 170 and live comfortably but we wouldn't be able to pay for school. Will my son be the only one in that predicament.? |
| Landon's reputation is well-documented. Hopefully you did your homework before applying to that school. |
| You will not be alone. There are lots of families in similar economic strata as you. My advice would be to involve yourself in volunteer activities at school and help your son to build a social network by issuing invitations to fellow classmates and hosting "playdates." The culture is different than public schools but with a little effort your boy should be fine. |
| Great, active parent community. I would bet family money pays for a lot of enrollments. |
| Buy a white mercedes station wagon |
LOL! Also take lessons on how to act outrageously at Landon games. |
|
Get involved in the events like the greens sale or the azalea festival. Lots of help needed in lots of different ways. Great way to meet Mom's from all three divisions.

| Sure there's a lot of money there, but that is true for all the private schools. You and your son will be fine; there are great arts and music programs, in addition to sports, and many excellent teachers. And lots of nice families. |
| He will not be the only one. Some wealth is super obvious from the parents, but among the kids no one really cares. He will be fine. |
As long as he acts like the rest of the hoarde there. |
| We are not wealthy and will be there with you. Good luck! |
| Our second year there in MS, came from local/down the street MCPS, on FA and very happy. Non-Landon families don't have a clue what they are talking about... |
| Buy a massive SUV, wear your cell phone on your belt, and pop your collar. You'll fit in just fine. |
| Make sure your son sticks his chin out and up when posing for photos. |

Here's a tip for you relative to Landon and some of the other IAC schools
Don't assume the world started when your son and you showed up on Wilson Lane. Landon just isn't very popular among the other IAC schools. There's a long history between these schools and its kept alive by teachers and coaches and alumni and parents who have had multiple boys at the schools. Most of this has revolves around athletics but some of it has to do with out of school interactions and episodes. You won't be able to fix the problem. There's been far too much water under the bridge. Just understand that this well of hard feeling exists and tread carefully. |
