The opinions of any of us on this forum don't matter and will have no impact whatsoever on someone who can't maintain close family relationships with anyone in her husband's family or anyone on either side of her own family, other than her mother.

FFS,clearly you only read the entertainment forum on DCUM. Almost half the complaints on this board are about folks have disowned their mothers, brothers and won't even pick up their elderly fathers from the airport. He11, I haven't spoken to my father (He was a d1ck)or any member of his family in nearly 20 years.

I've read enough to know and been around long enough to know that what I wrote about her lack of closeness to ANY family members other than her mother is very atypical.

?? She's an only child of two parents. One of those parents has behaved absolutely horrendously, so I don't blame Meghan for giving him the cold shoulder. What exactly is atypical about that?

Also remember that Samantha Markle's own daughter and mother called Samantha out for being obsessive about Meghan, and said that Meghan had always been nothing but kind.

You're omitting parts of what I wrote. Sure, if dad and that side of family are truly horrendous (although she has those genes, too), then I'd understand. That leaves her mom's family and Harry's family, but she's not close to them either. Do you honestly think everyone is at fault but Meghan??
Doria Markle is an only child. Her parents are deceased. What family. Doria is her family. In regards to Harry's family, half you heifers on DCUM biatch and moan about your in-laws and have wished you did not have to deal with your own in-laws. Besides, it's not her responsibility to have a relationship with her husband's family, especially if he does not want to.

Responsibility? No. Still strange to have no close family relationships out of all the possibilities.

DP. At the risk of pointing out the obvious here, you have no idea what the dynamic is like with either side her family. You're presuming that she had a close knit immediate and extended family her entire life and then dropped them when she met Harry. You have no idea whether her parents were close with their extended families. You have no idea whether she was close with any extended family growing up. Yet you're SO SURE that any lack of closeness on both sides MUST be her fault, regardless of all the other people involved or what may have occurred between family members over the years. Your insistence that she is the cause of the dynamic in her family is downright bizarre.

I have never said it was her fault or that she is the cause of the dynamic in her family; however, that degree of dysfunction is not typical and has spilled over into her relationships with her in-laws.

You are implying that she is at the root of the dysfunction by stating that it's "strange" she has no close family relationships. Don't try to walk it back now.

Also, "that degree of dysfunction" is much more common than you think. It's just that most of us don't get our dirty laundry aired for the world to see so you may not be aware of it. Honestly, there's nothing all that unusual about her family dynamic other than the entire world knows all about it.

Not walking back anything. I will repeat. It's not her fault that she comes from a dysfunctional family, but it HAS affected her and it is NOT typical to have no close family relationships other than one's mom and husband.

I totally agree.

I also think the tone and nastiness shown by Meghan towards Kate during the interview was unmistakable.

Did you actually watch the interview? Kate and Meghan are not friends and clearly never were. She’s not obligated to decline to correct a misconception about who made who cry. You really expect her to be Jesus Christ.

Of course they didn’t watch they interview! They just do what they always do, accuse Meghan of being the devil and responsible for all the wrongs of the world. Because she has that much power.

DP. I watched the interview. In pieces, over time, since watching it straight through was just too painful.

It was awful, as any tell-all interview would be. They complained so much, emoted so much pain, but said nothing of substance. Just two hours of extreme angst. And some potshots at various mostly unnamed family members. But the Queen is great!

I’m the PP who noted the tone towards Middleton. Yes, I watched it, and it was obvious Meghan was infuriated, wanted to wound, and it’s just pathetic to be 39 and say buhhhhh actually SHE made ME cry. That’s for 7 year olds. But it’s of a piece with her character.
m

But it’s not equally pathetic of 39 year old Kate to say nothing when she knew this story was untrue, and then to immediately deny a story about getting Botox? Seriously. I actually like Kate but you know she has the power of the tabloids behind her now that William has decided to play ball with them, at the expense of his relationship with his brother. Kate let’s everyone else do her dirty work and stays silent, so of course she comes out looking good. Something tells me her mom is Camilla Tominey’s ‘source’.

Surely you know the BRF doesn't ever deny minor factoids like who made who cry.

I don't recall the Botox story, but as far as I remember, the reaction wasn't about Kate using or not using, but rather about a medical provider using Kate as an illustration of Botox.

Oh please. Kate let that circulate for TWO YEARS. Knowing that it was just inciting hatred against Meghan for a 'crime' she didn't commit. That it was actually Kate who was fault. Not only was it leaked by a 'palace source' - meaning someone under Kate and William's purview - they let it stand while correcting all sorts of trivial nonsense about Kate's mother, sister, and William's lunch affairs.

Not to mention deliberately letting a negative story grow about another woman's wedding just because s/he couldn't stand how popular she was with the public.

Miserable b**ch.

You’re reading intent into an absence of information - and honestly, you are seething at Kate, a woman you’ve never met. You really come across like you hate her in a pretty intensely personal way.

We only have the word of a proven liar for this alleged story about Kate.

LOL Seething and reading intent? Meanwhile their pages discussing Meghan's lack of interactions with family members she hasn't seen in decades. Pot meet kettle.

Mmhmm, after her pet rota let that lie grow for years with whispers. Recall - they admit there's secrets only one reporter, Kate/William, and the media publisher knew. Someone leaked and it was first or the third.

Most people don’t get in a situation where their family can actually make money airing there dysfunction in the media though. And it does seem when that is on the table it quite often results in estrangement. Just off the top of my head this happened to- Julia Roberts, Mariah Carey, Eminem, Jennifer Aniston, etc.
Matthew McConouhay, Demi Moore, Rihanna, Meg Ryan, Macaulay Culkin and Gary Coleman just to name some more.

Honestly I think a lot if not all of this has been orchestrated by William. Kate is not intelligent enough nor does she seem to have the emotional depth. Speaking of long term relationships, besides her sister, does she have any friends? I’ve never heard of any of Kate’s friends speaking up. The only friend I’ve heard mentioned was the one having the affair with William. Sounds like a good friend. William seems to have lots of girlfriends though….

I feel sad for her actually. Her husband is getting away with everything and throwing her (and his brother and sister in law) under the bus because he knows the three of them are far better at being a royal than he is. Kate is beautiful and seems like a great mom, too bad she has such horrible taste in men.

+1

Almost every major celebrity has a crazy parent or relative who has either publicly tried to extort them or been distanced from.

Lindsay Lohan was famous for years for her public tirades against her parents.

Adele hasn't seen her alcoholic father in years.

Kobe Bryant's bereaved widow was sued by her own mother because she (THE MOTHER-IN-LAW) wanted a part of his estate.

Steve Jobs has four children but he didn't talk or interact with one his entire life.

Britney Spears is gearing up to sue her father, mother, and sister for stealing millions and twelve years of her life by keeping her medicated under a conservatorship.

Money is a problem in every family and with celebrities it can blow up in the public sphere in a big way.

Pet rota here - I can be convinced its all William. Everyone knows the married-ins have very little power and if Kate was going against anything Wills wanted she would be out the door on her bum like every other spouse of a Windsor since the 1980s. I don't necessarily think it takes intelligence to be catty and mean - especially considering a woman with Kate's background whose only focus for years was landing an esteemable boyfriend and keeping him. That takes balls - the female kind.

Anyway, she did try to oust the head of the Turnip Toffs and got her ass handed to her on a platter because Rose Cholmondeley, like Wills new girlfriend, is the bluest of blue bloods. Being a commoner of birth in England is no joke and not something you can 'live down'.

I halfway think that's why William picks women like Rose and Sofia. It amuses him because he knows there's not a thing Kate can do or say against those women. And he certainly didn't orchestrated a hit against his own mistress. He would have preferred that her name been kept secret.

Beyond that - yes, she's a good mom. Its all she does and I hope her kids appreciate that later in life if they don't now. As for William not being a good royal, he could be. He could be a great one, he's just lazy.

Have you read this thread? What you are saying is exactly what is being done to Meghan in this thread...the irony.

One thing that amuses me - the Daily Fail's senior lawyer was quoted as saying 'Ehhh, we knew it was illegal to release the letter...but we did it anyway because how could we not?'

Is that what passes for ethics and intelligence in the U.K.?

Beyond that - the blood niece of Diana Princess of Wales just had a showstopping wedding in Italy. Guess who didn't attend? Her father. Both of whom have been prominent guests at all major royal weddings. Nothing on that, the missing Spencer tiara, and the clear father/daughter riff.

Just trash.

However, as a former senior figure at one of the Mail group newspapers told The Daily Beast, the paper decided to publish the letter anyway because it “unlocked” the “mystery” of why Meghan’s dad Thomas had missed the royal wedding. “Royalty and a mystery is a fascinating combination, and has been for hundreds of years,” the source said, “A royal bride whose father was not coming to the wedding? It was such an unlikely series of events. This was an amazing story, this document fell into their lap and what were they to do? Royals don’t usually sue, so they decided to take a chance.”

It's amazing what tales of royal woes you are capable of spinning with nothing but your imagination. Kate's friends stay her friends precisely because they never, ever speak to anyone.

I don't know why you think Kate should care about her sister- and brother-in-law. She has cast her lot with William and she's staying on that path. Growing stronger every year.
