Can you imagine a woman saying, in the context of a contentious Senate hearing, “I am sorry I got emotional and lost my temper and said things I shouldn’t have. I was thinking about my children, my husband, and my parents”?

Also, his editorial doesn’t say he didn’t mean what he said. Just that he shouldn’t have said what he did. Most of the most partisan and outrageous conspiracy theorizing was in his prepared remarks!

Has anyone ever accused you of leading a rape gang at a job interview? Have actions of an interviewer ever caused a national uproar that resulted in death and rape threats against your children and spouse? No? Then STFU.

I guess how you would feel would depend on whether or not you were a rapist. Could you even consider the possibility that he was so drunk he didn't remember doing something awful and that he actually is a rapist? But only a handful of people, like Douthat of the NY times, actually want to keep their minds open and look at the facts.

Can anyone here really say that Kavanaugh did not lie under oath last week, earlier this month, and in 2006? He absolutely did! He may be totally innocent of the Ford/Ramirez/Swetnick allegations, and justifiably heated in his testimony, but he is still a liar time and again. That should be GAME OVER. What am I misssing.?

Yes, I remember the time the press ran article after article about him being a gang rapist and the Senate dragged him in for hearings and hours of testimony about sexually assaulting and gang raping women at high school parties. Obama really kept his cool in the face of all that.

It doesn’t matter. None of it matters. Kavanaugh is going to be a Supreme. And if you think he is going to forget what the rabid liberals put him and his family through you are about to get a 40 year lesson in payback.

The Republicans represent a rabid, dying white electorate and will be replaced on the Hill by Democrats who will either impeach Kavanaugh or expand and pack the Supreme Court to dilute his influence. And given Kavanaugh’s boozy lifestyle he’ll be lucky to last another 20 years before he has a heart attack.

yep yep yep THIS. They are DONE.

The problem is, the Senate will always be tough given the composition. That and correspondingly, the Electoral College.

They don't have the votes if he had to write this. I just picture Don McGahn standing over him saying, "Come on, Bart, you can do it, just one more paragraph. And then BEER!"

+1 - he wouldn't be doing this if they had the votes.

Agree. He's getting desperate again. I hope we don't see that rage again. Timmy will be pissed if Kavanaugh does not get his seat.

Justice Stevens has spoken and I'm sure the others are in agreement with him. I wish Kavanaugh would realize he is not wanted on the Court just as he is unwanted in a law school classroom.

Gonna be tough to be on that court knowing one of the most respected justices ever (and a life-long Republican to boot) thinks you're unfit to wear its robes.

Side note. Am I the only one who sat there and said Wait. He’s still alive? About to turn 100. Good for him!

You all probably know this is him rebuffing a Parkland parent's efforts to shake his hand. The way he does it shows what type of person he is - great with people in his circle or people he needs in his circle, and the rest can FOAD.

That's why he can treat Dem senators the way he did.
Why he can go after outskirts girls the way he did.
Why he can get be a mean drunk but a kind friend.
& Etc.

Justice Kavanaugh will be a protector of His Kind, and those who happen to benefit from same.
Woe to the rest of us.
Would rather have nine Thomases.

That seems like a million years ago. God that man is an entitled douche. His prissy little pucker as it dawned on him who this man was, then the snub.

OMG. Are you going back to handshake-gate?
You have got to be kidding me. You really hate this man.
You did provide a good clip of this encounter though. Watch as Guttenberg quickly approaches him. And, look behind Guttenberg at how quickly security gets there. And, notice that Kavanaugh is taking his cues from security. Don’t forget that his testimony had been interrupted repeatedly with protesters.
This is old news, PP.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh has a simple explanation for why he didn’t shake the hand of a Parkland school shooting victim’s father at last week’s Senate confirmation hearing.
He didn’t recognize him.

Kavanaugh’s explanation for the encounter with Fred Guttenberg was among a 263-page response to written questions from senators on a range of issues including abortion, executive power, and his personal finances.

Kavanaugh wrote that he assumed the man who approached him “and touched my arm” during a break at the Senate Judiciary Committee proceedings had been one of the many protesters in the hearing room.

Guttenberg’s 14-year-old daughter, Jaime, was among 17 people killed in the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High on February 14th.

“It had been a chaotic morning,” Kavanaugh wrote. “I unfortunately did not realize that the man was the father of a shooting victim from Parkland, Florida. Mr. Guttenberg has suffered an incalculable loss. If I had known who he was, I would have shaken his hand, talked to him, and expressed my sympathy. And I would have listened to him.”

Thanks for bringing up his offering an excuse. Took days as I recall, after repeated calls for it. Kinda like tonights WSJ piece.
He may not be an assaulter, but he is definitely a partisan, elitist liar who will do anything to get on the court.
I can't imagine many people not dropping out for the good of the country by now.

I think most people think that, or think he did it and remembers. But unfortunately some people are like "he was in high school, who cares?" but as we see, character DOES matter. He has gone on to do a lot more unethical shit and then lied about it (also unethical). And that brings us to judicial demeanor. He was there AS A JUDGE. That nametag in front of him said "Hon. Brett Kavanaugh" - there are cockroaches with more judicial demeanor than him.

It was a given during that Roman circus of a hearing—the original one where Kamala came off as a blabbering idiot and Cory booker had his spongebob squarepants moment. All the heat lightning since then has just illuminated how crazed for power the left is. And it’s probably set back sexual assault victim advocacy by about 70 years.

A lot of people think that if you keep repeating your story and beliefs enough time, they become facts.
