I agree PP. She's not innocent - but neither is he. If you watch the video of his slamming the cabinets, and read the texts such as "let's m u r d e r Amber", I mean he's not the only victim here. They both abused each other.

The case was about defamation, not abuse.

He did not sexually or physically abuse her. She made written statements that he did.

What statements did she make that specifically noted sexual or physical abuse? The op-Ed referenced abuse but didn’t specify.

She called herself a victim of abuse. The question about the identity of the abuser was up to the jury and they clearly think that she was accusing Depp

Oh please. This at least proved that if you are going to accuse someone of something you have to at least have valid evidence. Which she did not have.

She had two non-friend witnesses testify to seeing injuries on her face. How is that not valid evidence?

She had to prove they were from him. Those bruises could have been caused by Botox or some physical altercation that she initiated or instigated herself (which seems to have happened often).

Um, yes, she did have and she won her claim. Idiot.

I think she is a liar but don’t think that every single thing she said was a lie and that if he did abuse her (not necessarily physically) then it’s not defamation.

Basically seems like jury nullification based on his celebrity.

Agree, and this was Variety's take on his career as of 23 hours ago:

Johnny Depp said he has lost tens of millions of dollars due to Amber Heard’s allegations of domestic violence, but the testimony showed that he was a star in serious decline even before the allegations, and was virtually unemployable by major studios.

Here is what your analysis is missing: Depp stood to make over $20mm from one movie alone (Pirates 6). They found compensatory damages of only $5mm. So their analysis took into account the fact she did not tank his career on her own. If that had been what they found, the compensatory damages would have been much higher.

so now the jury writes a bunch of books

my life on the Johnny Depp jury

My life as an Abuse Victim: Get accused of making it up, get sued and have a public live-streamed $hit$how case.

Power, control and post-separation abuse at its best. With the financial abuse cherry on top.

+1. Loud and clear now Fairfax

Only one of her counter-claims was successful and that wasn't even against Depp but his agent and was for only $2M.

Furthermore, in the court of public opinion, I don't think Depp has ever been more popular. She, though....I don't think she's going to have many opportunities going forward.

No. Any decent human thinks he’s a POS after this.

The campaign online to clear Depp is just another form of MAGA in this country.

Like literally…when you’re a star, they let you do it - here - the “it” is beat your wife.

Completely unsurprised by the disgusting Pieces of Sh!T that surround us here in the good ol’ USA!

He didn't beat his wife.

The UK court found he did.

DP. Pirates 6 never got off the ground for reasons that had nothing to do with the Depp.

I agree, also the fact that men predominated on the jury (why did her lawyers allow that??) and he had far better lawyers.

It's been proven that men tend to find in favor of women and women on jury are harsh on other women.

Yes I think most men and women would consider her behavior fairly normal for a wife. I can not think of anything that was abusive.

Shitting on your marital bed is 'normal' for a wife? I do not want to know what your marriage is like.

She was force to confront him. Remember he had the patriarch working for him!

That is false. She claimed physical and sexual abuse, those are the parts of the op-ed that he won on. It was defamation because she didn't prove physical or sexual abuse.

Emotional abuse or being an alcoholic/addict wasn't the charge

Loud and wrong.

Except she was clearly abusive as well, trying to 'catch' him by taping drunk moments that had nothing to do with her.

The jury was right.

She taped her own abusive behavior.

His lawyers did their job. Hers? Not so much but what did they have to work with.

I consider this a huge win for men who are victims of dv. Including a family member.

He was definitely dropped from Fantastic Beasts though.

What if I told you that you could be a victim of abuse without that abuse being sexual or physical?
