Unable to keep her news to herself for just a few minutes more, until after she focused everything on OP. You know how kids will interrupt you in the middle of a conversation just to share something that is of great importance to them? This is how the SIL acted. OP, on the other hand, is acting like a teenager. She's upset that everyone isn't focused on her 100% and now wants everyone at the lunch table to agree with her. "Oh no she didn't!?!" |

I don't think she was trying to steal your thunder, Op. If anything she lessened the amount of attention that she got by announcing when she did.
It's not like she announced some sort of devastating news (that could have waited) on your baby's birthday. She simply shared in your happiness. |
