Bumping this up to see if anyone has any insight into what we should expect this spring. Any FCPS admins on this board?

I don't want the crazy "IT'S GOING TO BE A MAGNET SCHOOL" lady posting. I will report you, you have massive issues.

DP. There is tons of information in other threads, but just to repeat here is the latest and most detailed communication from FCPS:

https://www.fcps.edu/about-fcps/maps/boundary-adjustments-information/skyview-high-school-boundary-development

It seems some of you folks are far more interested in making threats about reporting people and trying to police discussions of Skyview than actually learning about the boundary process.

So you’re basically asking for more unsubstantiated rumors. Good luck with that, you moron.

Dear Families,
We would like to share an update on the boundary development process for Skyview High School.

As a reminder, the School Board is scheduled to vote on Skyview’s boundary in June. In the meantime, we encourage your active participation in this important work. Below is an overview of the timeline and engagement opportunities:

March – Kickoff Meeting
We invite you to join our kickoff meeting, where we will outline what to expect, review criteria guiding boundary development, answer questions, and gather your input on key themes related to boundary planning. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Westfield High School. You may register to participate in person or via Zoom.

Phase 1: April – Boundary Scenario Development
FCPS’ consultant will develop three draft boundary scenarios (maps) based on established criteria and community feedback received during the kickoff meeting as well as previously collected feedback.

Phase 2: Week of April 27 – Community Meetings
The consultant will present the three draft scenarios for the Skyview boundary. Meeting participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback using the Boundary Explorer Tool. Additional details, including meeting dates and locations, will be shared soon.

Phase 3: Late May – Community Meetings
Revised boundary scenarios will be shared with the community for additional feedback. The consultant will use this input to further refine the maps in collaboration with FCPS leadership.

Phase 4: June – Superintendent’s Recommendation
FCPS’ superintendent will present a final recommendation to the School Board for consideration and action at a board meeting.
Please note that dates are subject to change.
Your feedback is essential, as we work together to develop a boundary that best serves our students, families, and the community. For more information, please visit the Skyview Boundary Development webpage.

Sincerely,
Fairfax County Public Schools

That is because that is an old email, it has been out there for a while.

There is no new information. I am not sure what you want people to tell you.

March 24, 2026
Dear Families,
As a reminder, FCPS is hosting a boundary study kickoff meeting for Skyview High School and our western pyramids on Wednesday, March 25, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., at Westfield High School. Western pyramids include Centreville, Chantilly, Oakton, South Lakes, and Westfield.
Please register to participate in person or via Zoom.
At the kickoff meeting, we will outline what to expect, review criteria guiding boundary development, answer questions, and gather your input on key themes related to boundary planning.
The consultant will develop three draft boundary scenarios (maps) by integrating all community input—including feedback already gathered, results from the digital survey launching tomorrow, and any survey responses submitted during the subsequent two weeks. These draft maps are scheduled to be presented the week of April 27. Stay tuned for specific meeting details, which will be released in the coming days.
Please visit the Skyview HS and Western Pyramids Boundary Study page to learn more about the boundary process.
Sincerely,
Fairfax County Public Schools

It is such a mistake to let this drag on so long.
If FCPS is concerned that families will opt out once the boundary is known, they should have settled it months ago instead of waiting until the end of the school year when there is little time for families or staff/administration to pivot if necessary.

But isn't that kind of the point? They're hoping kids won't opt out after the boundary is drawn because by then it will be too hard to make a change. If they told everyone the boundaries now, it gives more time for kids who had opted in to change their mind. I am sure they know that there's are greater odds that kids opt out once boundaries are drawn, as compared to the odds of kids opting in once they know if they're in boundary or not.

I'm so tired of Rooted In Oakton parents posting in every single Facebook group and forum I belong to. Your stupid petitions do not belong in HOA forums, ladies.

Any boundaries they draw won't be effective any earlier than the fall of 2027. They may be trying to limit the time for people to provide input on the boundaries adopted this summer, but people who don't want their kids at Skyview would still have over a year to make other arrangements.

Kind of the opposite of open and transparent, if that’s what they are thinking

They could have figured out the boundaries at the beginning of the year and had 9th and 10th opt out rather than opt in.

It's very obvious that Reid wanted this school to launch with a smaller number of self-selected kids who were attracted by Skyview's pathways and didn't care that it can't deliver a traditional high school experience. It's not a magnet like TJ, since they aren't turning away kids and, in fact, didn't get the initial number of kids they wanted, but it's a magnet in the sense that there's self-selection taking place.
