Alicia Florrick on the Good Wife has plenty of chemistry with him. I wish they would bring him back to that show! |
The actress has had 6 years of international visibility, and has been getting leading roles in West End plays because of it, so I think she'll forgive Julian Fellowes. Fellowes has said in interviews that he believes that there are people who are just unlucky, and that's why he has Edith and the Bateses. |
+1 Mary was horrible (more so than usual) in this episode. I was outraged that she got to enjoy a lovely wedding while Edith is heartsick over the end of her engagement (can't remember his name because he is SO bland). That said, I wanted to smack Edith several times when she had the opportunity to tell him about Marigold but didn't. She is so wishy-washy, it drives me crazy. If she had just told him earlier, I'm fairly sure he would have been ok with it. Since there's only one episode left, I can't imagine how they're going to tie it all up. Maybe they fast-forward a few months so we can see how everyone turns out. Who will Tom wind up with? Speaking of Tom, I love him, but he was flat-out annoying. Such a busy-body, literally insisting that Mary should be with whatshisname. Carson is now one of my least favorite characters. Such a self-righteous prig. |
I would have so much more respect for Mary if, instead of planning her own wedding right then and there, she had told Henry (?) that it would have to wait until she had found Edith's guy (name?) and actually made it right with them. That is, done everything in her power to get him to come back to Edith. THEN she could have her own stupid wedding. I loved everything Edith said to Mary before she left, and then after she returned for Mary's wedding. I was actually very surprised to see her come back for it. Just shows she's a much bigger person than Mary. |
Yes!! That was hilarious. No wonder we always see him in Violet's kitchen with the paper spread out before him. |
Agree, on all counts. Tom is quite stout these days - not a good look. So overbearing when it comes to Mary's love life. And poor Edith - this is the third time she's been jilted, if you count Michael dying. Surely they'll give her a happy ending? |
Mary is the pits. |
The finale isn't for 2 weeks! That's a long time to wait. It's all I can do to not search for what actually happens. You know someone is going to die in the final episode. The dowager would be too predictable so I'm thinking it's Carson. And something's got to happen with Daisy too, now that she's gotten her exams back. |
SPRATT!!! BANANAS! Yes, that was so funny. I'm also so happy for Mosely. I cried when he was giving his inspiring speech to the kids. I hope him and Baxter end up together. |
Were people calling each other the B word in 1925? It sounded like too modern an epithet to me. |
Seriously? You think Bitch is some new word? ![]() |
It's not on this coming Sunday?? Why? Why drag it out? |
Carson hasn't always been this way, there has to be something he's not telling everyone (at least I'm holding out on that possibility, the alternative is he's an ass).
If they don't give Edith her happily ever after with Mary getting married... OMG. I hope we get to see Bates & Anna's baby too, they too deserve a happy ending. This Christmas episode better be pretty damn good... And long for that matter. |
It's Oscar Sunday so maybe they didn't want to compete. |
Completely. It seemed they had no other plot ideas but to write her out. What is also ridiculous is how fast Tom's letter reached her and how fast she was able to return. Mail was extremely slow as was travel. South of France to Yorkshire--train, ship, train again. |
