Who's more unlikable, Mary or Carson? She's a real piece of work. Her spite for Edith is psychotic. I think she just can't stand Edith outranking her. Carson's snobbishness is out of hand too.

I had the same response, but took the commentary afterward ("He surely likes his dogs.") as a class statement. He doesn't mind the pup messing the halls (for others to clean) and certainly embraces it with more enthusiasm than he would a working person... Dunno. That's how it rang in my ears. They perked right up at that line.

Mine too, with Edith in a cemetery. Her magazine beau's (I never cared enough about him to learn his name)? Was this the last real episode before the Christmas special? Mary is such a terrible person.

The cemetery scene was the very end. The show ended around 10:10 or 10:15, oddly.

Totally agree. I didn't understand at all why Tom and other family members were so insistent that Mary really did love what's-his-name. She's rejected much more interesting men before!

And when the Dowager told her to make things right with Edith, I don't think she meant that Mary should go ahead and make her perfect life while Edith continues to suffer.

I love that family members finally called out Mary for being a bitch. Especially Cora's line about Mary acting jealous.

Does Tom seem to be about 30 lbs heavier this season? He looks huge right now. I like him but he does seem a bit too invested in mary's love life. Glad to see that Edith finally tried to Mary in her place. But good lord, how much does Julian Fellow hate the actress who plays Edith, he is determined to ruin her life.
