Now you're just trying to be obtuse. |
No. The other PP was over the top saying RL would be GA champs. But GA chanps could not play with teams like Solar. |

DM: Lonestars @LonestarSC will be joining the ECNL league Texas conference as an RL club to start, with the hope of joining ECNL full time. Another GA club leaving for ECNL
-Club Coach #CSTruth That’s another major blow to girls academy. |
The trend we've seen recently is the ECNL welcoming some of the best clubs in the nation, while the GA is welcoming, at best, mediocre clubs with no real track record, but infrastructures and visions. So, four years into the GA experiment, their hopes of the GA being what the DA once was have dwindled. Now these former DA clubs are realizing that the GA clearly plays second fiddle to the ECNL today and don't see that changing any time soon. More top clubs will soon follow suite, which will bleed the GA from a ton of talent. GA will still exist, for the time being. But as more and more top clubs continue to withdraw from the GA, it will spurn the continued ascension of the ECNL-RL past the GA in terms of competition and relevancy as these clubs put their talented B teams there.

my kid is on a nl team…. And i feel its not that serious lol. Dang yall going to war in the comments over this. Uncomfortable truth - VA soccer as a whole doesn’t hold a candle to the south/west and southwest clubs. Way too many teams… and we lack indoor facilities and true clubhouses. Crazy for the money we throw around. Anyways carry on this is entertaining… |
LOL. What else was the GA press release going to say about accepting a club whose teams are consistently at the bottom of their brackets in EDP and NCSL? They were never going to admit, "Revolution has no business being in the GA but Christian promised they were going to bring in a bunch of FCV players so we're holding our noses on the off chance that that materializes". |
well….. |
|
Anybody following a pattern here…all the new GA clubs coming over to ECNL had ECNL Boys instead of MLS Next teams as boys leagues. Seems like an important piece of information in this whole deal….especially with new registering affiliation with US Soccer.
|
Absolutely correct. Unfortunately most of the ECNL cult parents who post online have no clue how boys youth soccer works. With boys MLSN is the top dog and other leagues exist but aren’t as high of quality. |
|
The problem with MLSN is that they’re trying to be neutral in the youth soccer league wars. MLSN doesn’t care if clubs have ECNL boys or girls they just want a league with appropriate competition. ECNL is tieing boys and girls ECNL together. This means if a club doesn’t have MLSN then ECNL with both girls and boys might make more money. If a club has MLSN and ECNL doesn’t allow then to have either boys or girls it leaves clubs with GA for girls. Eventually MLSN will need to take a more proactive position.
Tieing two different products in a sale and forcing someone to buy both if they want one is illegal. But someone or a group specifically harmed would have to bring ECNL to court to address. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tying_(commerce)" target="_new" rel="nofollow"> https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tying_(commerce) |

Tying is often used when the supplier makes one product that is critical to many customers. By threatening to withhold that key product unless others are also purchased, the supplier can increase sales of less necessary products. In the United States, most states have laws against tying, which are enforced by state governments. In addition, the U.S. Department of Justice enforces federal laws against tying through its Antitrust Division. |
Finally someone who might know what they are talking about. All these recent additions which I agree look fantastic from the girls perspective of ECNL, what you all are missing is that this is an attempt by ECNL to fight and bolster up their boys programs to stay relevant, and has almost nothing to do with any competiion with or from GA. MLSN is operating like ECNL does not exsist, and what you are seeing on the girls side is that GA is beginning to act accoridngly. Perplexing? Yes, GA is no where near the level or influence in the market as MLSN but what if a girls league did start operating that way and became the NWSLN for girls. Not saying that is happening, just saying that the structure is currently being set for this to occur in the future organically. ECNL will be the brand to play college soccer, very profitable business and happy consumers because college's coaches need players, and parents want to post IG college sweatshirt photo shoots to their followers. MLSN and GA/or future home to NWLSN academies, will be the brand to maximize your soccer development to be evaluated as a porfessional, while participating in traditional showcases to be seen by college coaches. Tell me where I'm wrong? Which one would you choose? - CEFAQ (Current ECNL Family Asking Questions) |
I don't think MLSN looks at their clubs and wonders about if there are things they can do to help the girls side. But there is a lot of truth behind this youth soccer turf war that isn't being looked at and it's the boys side of the picture. MLSN continues to cement itself as the top boys league for pro and college. What will happen to ECNL boys in the long run? And if you feel like there's no negative effects, why would anybody feel like GA is in jeopardy then? What's going on currently is mirroring each other just on different ends IMO. |
If ECNL is the better path to college, that is the path most girls will choose. The very best boys go to academies (actual academies, not MLS next teams), that equivalent doesn't exist for girls. It is extremely rare for a girl to go pro rather than to college - there are a handful in total. Most girls and their parents realize that they do not fall into that category and plan accordingly. |
You all obviously don't have a boy playing soccer. Yes ECNL is 2nd tier to MLSN, but MLSN doesn't let in the number of boys clubs that ECNL lets in for girls. And there is a lot more boys teams that could play in MLSN than the number of girls teams that play ECNL. ECNL for boys is solid program to get recruited. |
