Anybody following a pattern here…all the new GA clubs coming over to ECNL had ECNL Boys instead of MLS Next teams as boys leagues. Seems like an important piece of information in this whole deal….especially with new registering affiliation with US Soccer.
Absolutely correct. Unfortunately most of the ECNL cult parents who post online have no clue how boys youth soccer works. With boys MLSN is the top dog and other leagues exist but aren’t as high of quality.
Finally someone who might know what they are talking about. All these recent additions which I agree look fantastic from the girls perspective of ECNL, what you all are missing is that this is an attempt by ECNL to fight and bolster up their boys programs to stay relevant, and has almost nothing to do with any competiion with or from GA. MLSN is operating like ECNL does not exsist, and what you are seeing on the girls side is that GA is beginning to act accoridngly. Perplexing? Yes, GA is no where near the level or influence in the market as MLSN but what if a girls league did start operating that way and became the NWSLN for girls. Not saying that is happening, just saying that the structure is currently being set for this to occur in the future organically. ECNL will be the brand to play college soccer, very profitable business and happy consumers because college's coaches need players, and parents want to post IG college sweatshirt photo shoots to their followers. MLSN and GA/or future home to NWLSN academies, will be the brand to maximize your soccer development to be evaluated as a porfessional, while participating in traditional showcases to be seen by college coaches. Tell me where I'm wrong? Which one would you choose? - CEFAQ (Current ECNL Family Asking Questions)
If ECNL is the better path to college, that is the path most girls will choose. The very best boys go to academies (actual academies, not MLS next teams), that equivalent doesn't exist for girls. It is extremely rare for a girl to go pro rather than to college - there are a handful in total. Most girls and their parents realize that they do not fall into that category and plan accordingly.
