| Bumped this to the top given there is so much talk about where the 27's may go. I wouldn't be so quick to jump to Pride. The 27 team has good some players but is a bit of a mess. That team will get a heavy maker as girls leave for other programs - not just Capital. |
I know several families with kids on that Pride team and no one is leaving for anywhere except Capital. The other local teams with high school programs like Stars, MC Elite, and YJMA are much less talented. Capital will get the strongest BLC, Pride, and Stars players, and the Pride team will likely remain the strongest after players leave for Capital because they are the strongest team and club with a high school program. It makes for the players who didn’t make Capital from other clubs to gravitate there. Why do you say the team is a bit of a mess? They are the most talented local team from top to bottom except perhaps BLC (and maybe better than BLC considering they just beat them at LFTC over the weekend). |
| Looks like M&D 27 is the cream of the crop, top DMV 27s should tryout there. Followed by Stars A team, who will still get preference on Capital. BLC girls should def be trying out for multiple clubs and steer clear of Capital Orange if they r THAT good. Sounds like talent will end up being spread out. All the local 25s had a ton of college coaches on sidelines. Scores don’t matter to coaches so wherever the 27s end up lax life will be good if they keep grinding wherever they land. |
Capital will not provide preference to any MS club, they will take the most talented players at their positions of need. With the exception of the 2023 Pride girls who stayed together, Pride MS players have historically made up a good portion of the Capital HS teams, but again no preference was given to them. Second, if you tryout for Capital, placement on the Orange team may not be something you can avoid. You may choose not to take a spot on the team. Third, all of the top HS clubs have a pretty good idea of who they are taking going into tryouts. If you are not in the know leading up to tryouts your DD will have to be a complete surprise off-the-radar player who is head and shoulders above others. Tryouts are more of an opportunity to fill maybe 3-5 spots. It is not an open tryout for 20-22 spots. |
Well said. Capital will get up to 150 girls trying out for basically 3-5 Blue Slots and 20-22 Orange slots. |
The Stars A team is much further down the list. For 2027s, it goes Hero’s Green and M&D Black, then next level down is BLC, MD United, Pride NOVA Red, and Skywalkers Blue. Then next level down is Stars Light Blue. Then next level or several levels down are a bunch of clubs, including MC Elite, YJMA, Rebels, etc. |
| Bunch of ‘27s from all over were at Triple threat so folks got a chance to see girls together who aren’t normally together. Some good players. Interestingly a Cav player especially stood out. |
Yes, you are right. Not many stars 27s will make Capital. But the stars HS program may benefit from that if the girls choose to stay. |
Same is true of Pride. This year, BLC players will push out some Pride and Stars kids who would normally make Capital. I think the Capital Blue team will be mostly BLC players, then Pride, then Stars, then three or four from other clubs like MC Elite and YJMA. As a result, the Pride and Stars 2027 teams will be stronger than their 2026 and 2025 teams. |
At most 2 players from Stars 27 makes Capital Blue. |
Here we ago again. Just stop. There is never any predicting how capital tryouts go. Every year people are surprised. Every year someone great doesn’t make it and at least a couple of weaker players do. The club is looking for particular things and that’s impossible to predict ahead of time. Just wait and see. Don’t jinx your kid(s). |
| There will be enough good kids from across the three programs to make two good teams. Just need to figure out which program 20-40 will go to? |
Do you know every girl on the stars 27 roster? How can you even say this with any certainty? |
|
Are most of the Stars players Saints girls? |
